<p>Title: Workforce and Continuing Education Adjunct Pool</p> <p>Agency: Southwest Virginia Community College</p> <p>Location: Tazewell - 185</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: Starting salary is commensurate as based on assigned instructor level, education, and experience</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Part Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Cedar Bluff, Virginia, SWCC offers associate's degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate's degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.</p> <p>Southwest Community College invites applications for Workforce faculty positions. The College seeks faculty who will adapt to a variety of teaching situations, can use technology to teach effectively, and will work effectively with students, staff, and others in a climate that promotes cultural diversity and student success.</p> <p>Other responsibilities include participation in the following: achievement of the College's mission and goals; upholding the College's values; and personal and program evaluation.</p> <p>Workforce faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.</p> <p>Instructional faculty must reside in the state of Virginia or be available to teach in-person classes at one of the Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) locations (Main Campus, Lebanon, Bluefield, Southern Gap).</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>The applicable degree required for the discipline.</p> <p>Demonstrated commitment to student success.</p> <p>Excellent verbal, listening, problem-solving, critical thinking and writing skills</p> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <p>Ability to work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.</p> <p>Competence to teach courses with multicultural perspectives in a community college setting with a focus on student learning.</p> <p>Willingness to incorporate the college-wide abilities of Civic Engagement, Critical Thinking, Professional Readiness, Quantitative Literacy, Scientific Literacy, and Written Communication.</p> <p>Experience with the use of online course management systems, i.e. Canvas.</p> <p>Ability to impart excitement and enthusiasm into teaching.</p> <p>Ability to adapt to a variety of teaching situations, including a wide range of student preparedness and characteristics.</p>
