<p>The Holliston Public School District is looking to the fill role of a School Nurse. This is a part-time, 5 day per week, benefits eligible position.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>School nurse educator's license from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education </li><li>Bachelor's in Nursing from an accredited college or university </li><li>Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts (M.G.L. c.71, s.53) </li><li>Current CPR certification </li><li>AED training from a recognized provider (such as the American Red Cross or American Heart Association) </li><li>Strong knowledge and demonstrated skill in working with children </li><li>A desire to be part of a collaborative school community </li></ul> <p>Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Manages and coordinates health services for students within the school setting, while interacting with their educational goals, personal health, and public health needs </li><li>Organizes and implements state-mandated programs such as immunization surveillance and screening programs. Completes and submits state mandated reports and surveys as required by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health </li><li>Promotes positive safety practices within and outside of the school building, and ensures that the school has an effective medical emergency plan </li><li>Assesses children for a wide range of physical and behavioral illnesses and develops programs to prevent the spread of disease and promote wellness </li><li>Provides medically prescribed interventions, including medication administration and treatments </li><li>Provides first aid/emergency care to students and staff </li><li>Collaborates with parents, community health care providers and agencies </li><li>Maintains comprehensive and confidential health records for students that are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Must remain proficient in current technology for health record database used throughout the system </li><li>Ensures timely documentation of all encounters with students </li><li>Serves as liaison among the school, the home, community health care agencies, and other healthcare professionals </li><li>Using the nursing process, collaborates with family and student to develop and implement an individualized health care plan when appropriate </li></ul> <p>If you are interested in joining in this position, please submit a cover letter, resume, and three (3) letters of reference.</p> <p>Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check. The check will require you to pay a fee of $55 if you hold an Educator's License, or $35 if you are an unlicensed employee.
