<p>Job Description:</p> <p>North Haven Public Schools</p> <p>Speech and Language Pathologist - Districtwide - 25/26 (29)</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principals and Director of Student Services</p> <p>Work Year: 2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>Salary: Teacher's Contract</p> <p>Description</p> <p>The speech language pathologist will address the needs of individuals with speech, voice or</p> <p>language disorders, and support the staff that is also responsible for these students in the area</p> <p>of communication. This person will work with students with and without IEPs, who have been</p> <p>identified as, or are suspected of having speech-language impairment, and those for whom</p> <p>speech and language services are deemed necessary. Collaboration among programs and</p> <p>buildings. This position could be housed at one or more school buildings, which could include</p> <p>preschool.</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>State of Connecticut licensure and certification (061);</p> <p>ASHA CCC-SLP</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li>Assessment & Evaluation </li></ol> <p>Conduct comprehensive speech, language, voice, and fluency evaluations using</p> <p>standardized and informal assessment tools;</p> <p>Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations, including those for initial eligibility,</p> <p>reevaluation, and early childhood screening;</p> <p>Write clear, data-driven evaluation reports that align with CT State guidelines and best</p> <p>practices;</p> <p>Interpret assessment results for parents, teachers, and other team members.</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development </li></ol> <p>Collaborate with IEP teams to determine eligibility for SLP services;</p> <p>Develop individualized, measurable IEP goals based on assessment data and student</p> <p>needs;</p> <p>Determine appropriate service delivery models (e.g., pull-out, push-in, consultative)</p> <p>based on student strengths and needs.</p> <ol start="3"> <li>Service Delivery </li></ol> <p>Provide direct therapy to students with identified SLP needs in accordance with IEP goals;</p> <p>Provide services across a range of settings, including self-contained classrooms, general</p> <p>education classrooms;</p> <p>Support communication needs of students with complex needs, including augmentative</p> <p>and alternative communication (AAC).</p> <ol start="4"> <li>Collaboration and Consultation </li></ol> <p>Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, special education staff, interventionists,</p> <p>and related service providers;</p> <p>Provide classroom strategies, accommodations, and supports to promote language</p> <p>development and generalization of skills;</p> <p>Consult with families to share progress, home carryover strategies, and resources;</p> <ol start="7"> <li>Professionalism and Continuing Education </li></ol> <p>Stay current on best practices in speech-language pathology, educational law, and</p> <p>language development;</p> <p>Attend professional development workshops and in-service training;</p> <p>Maintain licensure and certification requirements (state license, ASHA CCC-SLP, etc.).</p> <p>Provide culturally and linguistically responsive services to diverse student populations;</p> <p>Prioritize caseload to meet IEP timelines and student needs;</p> <p>Communicate clearly and effectively with students, staff, and families;</p> <p>Demonstrate flexibility in managing a dynamic caseload and adapting to changing student</p> <p>needs;</p> <p>Promote inclusive practices and support student participation in the general education</p> <p>curriculum;</p> <p>Uphold confidentiality and ethical standards as defined by ASHA and state regulations.</p> <p>Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that</p> <p>must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the</p> <p>essential functions.</p> <p>While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand,</p> <p>walk, sit and talk or hear.
