If you are interested in joining a dynamic team, dedicated to building a better community, and being recognized as leaders both in our community and across the country, then Mecklenburg County has great opportunities for you.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation is excited to add a Maintenance & Operations Coordinator to our Park Operations Division. This position will lead our Playground installation and repair team, which serves all park and recreation facilities throughout Mecklenburg County. This includes but is not limited to supporting repairs and maintenance of existing playground structures, installation of new structures, and inspections. The incumbent may also participate in additional related sitework and upkeep around our playgrounds ensuring all park amenities are safe and accessible for our community. The successful candidate will have experience with playground repairs and installations as well as experience operating heavy equipment, such as skid steers, loaders, and concrete mixer. This full-time role will typically work Monday through Friday, 6:00am to 2:30pm, but may be required to work weekends as needed and based on business needs.</p> <p>By applying to this position, you are eligible to be considered for a similar role, in which you meet the minimum qualifications for, at other Park and Recreation locations should they become available. If you are looking to grow in your career, or transition laterally into a new role, don't miss this opportunity to apply!</p> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Class A CDL </li><li>NC Pesticide Applicator License </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Plan and coordinate with contractors and vendors; make decisions on repairs and construction in the park system; and orders and schedules delivery of project materials </li><li>Perform site reviews and coordinates completion; determine labor, equipment, and supplies </li><li>Complete monthly OSHA safety inspections on truck, equipment, PPE, etc. </li><li>Monitor and track key performance indicators to determine efficiency and effectiveness of building or equipment operations and systems </li><li>Develop or participate in the development of an annual operations budget for routine and preventative maintenance for facilities and or equipment </li><li>Participate in coordinating and writing bids, specifications, and awards </li><li>Read blueprints and/or sketches, and lay out work to be performed </li><li>Perform brick laying, pipe laying, painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, roofing and other construction tasks </li><li>Perform field maintenance and service work on equipment operated </li><li>Assess and plan semi-skilled and/or skilled activities in buildings, grounds, storm water, and equipment operations </li><li>Operate light/heavy equipment such as excavators, trencher, jetter, loaders, utility vehicles, tractors, mowers and dump trucks </li><li>Obtain permits, schedule inspections, and follow all required trade codes for projects </li><li>May supervise lower level trades staff or serve as a team lead, serve as a lead to community service workers, volunteers and part-timers </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of specialized maintenance experience related to assigned area</p> <p>Education: High School Diploma or equivalent</p> <p>Combination of relevant experience and relevant education accepted?: N/A</p> <p>Licenses/Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License and County Driving Privileges; Depending on area of assignment, may require a Class A or Class B CDL; One or more of the following licensures related to job; NC Electrical, NC Plumbing, NC Locksmithing, CPSI Playgrounds, Certified Arborist, HVAC, CPO, Class A CDL, and/or licensure in applicable trade</p> <p>Computer Skills: General knowledge of applicable computer programs</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES</p> <p>Knowledge:</p> <ul> <li>Equipment used in maintenance, grounds keeping, and construction </li><li>Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this equipment </li><li>Safe work practices and hazards associated with work </li><li>Use of the tools, equipment, supplies, and methods used in the maintenance activities </li></ul> <p>Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Operating trucks, small tractors, mowers and similar equipment </li><li>Filling out daily work sheets and other required forms </li><li>Operating a chainsaw and brush cutter, blowers, sweepers and other assigned equipment </li><li>Performing heavy manual labor, sometimes in adverse weather conditions </li></ul> <p>Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures </li><li>Collaboration: Working effectively and cooperatively with others; establishing and maintaining good working relationships </li><li>Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the information provided </li><li>Contributing to Team Success: Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals </li><li>Energy: Consistently maintaining high levels of activity or productivity; operating with vigor, effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time </li><li>Managing Work: Effectively managing one's time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently </li><li>Technical/Professional Knowledge and Skills: Having achieved a satisfactory level of technical and professional skill or knowledge in position-related areas; keeping up with current developments and trends in area of expertise </li></ul> <p>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS</p> <p>In addition to a competitive salary, Mecklenburg County offers a generous benefits package which greatly increases your total compensation.
