<p>APPLY NOW</p> <p>JOB OVERVIEW:The purpose of this position is to prepare and serve meals to corrections inmates/detainees; clean the kitchen and food preparation equipment. The work is performed under the Food Service Supervisor.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Responsible for preparing and cooking all meals for inmates on an assigned shift. </li><li>Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position. </li><li>Removes food and beverages from freezers, thaw, and place under refrigeration. </li><li>Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for distribution to housing units. </li><li>Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving the facility. </li><li>Responsible for reviewing menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks. </li><li>Loads and sets up delivery carts with the appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units. </li><li>Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils. </li><li>Maintain standards of sanitation and cleanliness. Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment. </li><li>Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping of all floors, collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers, as appropriate to the area of operation. </li><li>Assist inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment. </li><li>Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies. </li><li>Maintains knowledge of food preparation, presentation methods, techniques, and food safety procedures. </li><li>Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 25- 50 lbs. </li><li>Performs other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Education</p> </li><li> <p>General/technical high school diploma or GED equivalent</p> </li><li> <p>Vocational training in food service is preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Job Experience</p> </li><li> <p>1-3 years of experience</p> </li><li> <p>One year of food service experience preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge, skills, and abilities</p> </li><li> <p>Will be required to complete the Food Service Sanitation course (ServSafe) and/or the corrections food service course within six (6) months of hire.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to attend Correction Administrative training for basic correctional requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Must adhere to the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) and attend all training provided by the SCCDOC.</p> </li><li> <p>Employment is contingent on successfully passing a full criminal background check.</p> </li></ul> <p>TO APPLY: All applications must be submitted using the APPLY NOW link above.
