<p>2025-2026 Library Aide @ Taylor High School</p> <p>(Internal employees must use the internal link to login and apply.)</p> <p>https://aisd.tedk12.com/hire/internalLogin.aspx</p> <p>Primary Purpose:</p> <p>To assist the Library Information Specialist, teachers and students in the effective use of the Library Learning Commons as a learning resource space.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education/Certification:</p> <ul> <li>High school graduate or GED </li><li>Qualifies for appropriate state paraprofessional certification </li></ul> <p>Special Knowledge/Skills:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to operate personal computer and educational software </li><li>Ability to work with students and teachers effectively </li><li>Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills </li><li>Keyboarding ability </li><li>Demonstrate aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities </li><li>Excellent organization, communication, and interpersonal skills </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Three (3) year(s) experience working </li></ul> <p>Major Responsibilities and Duties:</p> <p>Program Management</p> <ul> <li>Help teachers and students locate both print and no-print materials. </li><li>Maintain day-to-day circulation of materials using library management software. </li><li>Organize and shelve materials. </li><li>Input student, staff and parent data into automated Library Circulation System. </li><li>Understand and operate the management component of the Library Circulation software. </li><li>Assist and train students in finding books using the online library catalog. </li><li>Assist students doing research in the library by helping them use the library databases. </li><li>Enter materials acquisitions data. </li><li>Does troubleshooting maintenance of campus hardware (i.e.) audio visual equipment and current technology such as data projectors, document cameras, etc. </li><li>Demonstrate/operate appropriate technology when requested by students or staff, (i.e.) computers, network navigation, video delivery, presentation equipment, etc. </li><li>Print overdue lists, barcodes, and bibliographies. </li><li>Process books for student and teacher use. </li><li>Read to students and assist or teach library classes under the supervision of the Library Information Specialist. </li><li>Create and maintain proper storage of media and equipment. </li><li>Maintain LLC bulletin boards and displays. </li><li>Collect and handles money for lost books, fees and book fairs. </li><li>Promote an inviting learning environment while monitoring student behavior in the library. </li><li>Manage the Library Learning Commons and library classes in the absence of the LIS due to campus meetings, collaborations, co-teaching etc. </li><li>Maintain regular and reliable attendance. </li></ul> <p>Clerical Support</p> <ul> <li>Create a variety of documents on the computer for faculty and staff. </li><li>Operate the copier and other machinery located in the workroom/office suites. </li><li>Sort and distribute campus mail. </li><li>Store supplies for campus use. </li><li>Order supplies and keep stock filled. </li><li>Return work to faculty in a timely manner. </li><li>Work with faculty in a courteous manner. </li><li>Cover for other staff members as assigned by administration. </li></ul> <p>Other</p> <ul> <li>Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures. </li><li>Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief. </li><li>Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <p>None</p> <p>Evaluation:</p> <p>Performance in this role is evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of Instructional Paraprofessional Personnel.</p> <p>Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <p>Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals</p> <p>Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing pulling, and twisting</p> <p>Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head</p> <p>Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)</p> <p>Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors</p> <p>Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress</p> <p>This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.</p> <p>The full job description for this position is included within this job posting.
