This position focuses on the development of innovative lipid nanoparticle (LNP)-based delivery systems for local treatment of eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE).</p> <p>Project Overview and Environment.</p> <p>The fellow will lead efforts to design novel delivery platforms for targeting the esophagus. Key strategies include:</p> <ul> <li>Development of oral delivery systems with increased contact time at the esophageal mucosa. </li><li>Engineering of hydrogels, mucoadhesive gels, or other biomaterials to enhance local retention. </li><li>Integration of devices or other delivery tools to optimize targeting and dosing precision. </li></ul> <p>This project is part of a collaborative, co-mentored effort involving leaders in drug delivery, esophageal biology, and clinical translation. The fellow will have access to world-class facilities, including advanced formulation and analytical equipment, a state-of-the-art core facility within the CHOP campus, and within the University of Pennsylvania.</p> <p>Environment & Resources</p> <ul> <li>Position embedded within CHOP's Frontier Program, which supports transformative, clinically driven research. </li><li>Access to world-class research infrastructure, including advanced formulation, imaging, and in vivo testing cores. </li><li>Opportunities for translational impact, high-impact publications, and career development within one of the top pediatric research institutions globally. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator).</p> </li><li> <p>Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops.</p> </li><li> <p>Supervise junior lab members.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist with other research projects as needed.</p> </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li> <p>Required: Doctorate</p> </li><li> <p>Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmaceutical sciences, materials science, or a related field preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Strong background in polymer chemistry, biomaterials, and/or oral drug delivery preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Experience with lipid-based delivery systems is desirable.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge in biology or gastrointestinal physiology is preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.</p> </li></ul> <p>SALARY RANGE:</p> <p>$20,800.00 - $110,400.00 Annually</p> <p>Salary ranges are shown for full-time jobs.
