Duties include:</p> <ul> <li>Field layout the utility/fiber optic lan network </li><li>Gather information from site maps, utility manhole locations and utility tunnels </li><li>Locate telecommunications trunks in buildings </li><li>Determine route to pull fiber-optic cable and type of equipment needed </li><li>Gather information for completion of as-built documentation </li><li>Install, maintain and analyze utility/fiber optic lan network </li><li>Perform all required safety checks </li><li>Install, set up and maintain wireless systems, directional antennas, canopy systems and arrays </li><li>Ensure that best communications over systems network is established </li><li>Direct other trades in removal of trees and or limbs impeding the function of the network </li><li>Direct other trades in proper location to attach mounting equipment </li><li>Trace out and analyze computer automation systems </li><li>Gather field panel information and device location to include lon device locations, point database management programs, ip addresses and bacnet information to develop, modify, update or replace a complete working automation system </li><li>Direct and assist contractors and higher and lower grade technicians to modify retro fittings of older automation systems </li><li>Notify system analyst and design teams of changes to database and as-built information </li><li>Set-up, calibrate, repair and install computer automation systems and sub-systems, including digital, analog, hybrid and fiber optic. Interrogate systems for data connected to computer automation systems </li><li>Send and enter manual commands to computer automation systems to test and analyze system programming </li><li>Install, maintain and modify programs and point databases of multiple computer automation systems </li><li>Service and install building automation controls with various types of computer systems and sub-systems, consisting of core computers, hard drives and memories </li><li>Evaluate building automation control systems; modify or update and replace new systems as required </li><li>Perform the calibration, adjustment, repair and installation of various types of digital and analog sensors, alarm systems and sub-systems, such as temperature, pressure, including vacuum, humidity, flow ionization, position types and all associated wired data transmission sub-systems and components such as encoders, multiplexers and wiring </li><li>Install interconnections of sensors and alarm systems and data collection equipment control sub-systems, including electric, electronic and pneumatic types </li><li>Work with metal and plastic pneumatic tubing, as required </li><li>Operate, repair, and calibrate test equipment and simulators necessary for the maintenance of computer systems, peripheral equipment, sensors, alarms and data collection equipment </li><li>Read and interpret electric, electronic and pneumatic, schematic and wiring diagrams of computer automation systems, related peripheral and test equipment and maintain logs and records of data as necessary </li><li>Monitor building environmental parameters for deviation from predetermined values </li><li>Respond according to established procedures to routine and priority alarms </li><li>Maintain logs of and records related to equipment, data and systems </li><li>Use various hand tools and equipment for servicing and construction of needed components, such as fiber optic fusion splicer, optic time domain reflectrometer and fiber scope </li><li>Interpret network error rate. Keep shop areas in a clean and orderly condition; maintain work area in a clean and safe condition </li><li>Notify supervisor when ordering or restocking supplies </li><li>Work with and advise other employees when needed </li><li>Respond to on-duty and off-duty emergency calls and make repairs as necessary </li><li>Follow up as necessary </li><li>Operate university vehicles as required </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.</p> <p>Days Off: Saturday, Sunday</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>MINIMUM WORK EXPERIENCE</p> <p>3 to 5 years of effective experience</p> <p>REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS</p> <p>None</p> <p>BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES</p> <p>Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties.
