<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Industrial Construction Equipment Mechanic is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and machinery used in industrial construction projects. This position ensures equipment is safe, reliable, and operating efficiently to support field operations and project schedules.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair diesel and gasoline engines powered units and hydraulic systems on heavy construction equipment including cranes, skid steers, telehandlers, compressors, generators, pumps, and specialty industrial equipment. </li><li>Perform preventive maintenance services (oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, fluid checks, etc.). </li><li>Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical system issues. </li><li>Repair, replace or adjust, hydraulic cylinders, pumps, valves, hoses, and electrical components on heavy equipment. </li><li>Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, blueprints, and diagnostic codes. </li><li>Perform welding and fabrication repairs as needed. </li><li>Maintain accurate service records and documentation of repairs. </li><li>Coordinate with equipment operators and project supervisors to minimize downtime. </li><li>Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA regulations. </li><li>Maintain a clean and organized shop and service truck. </li><li>Respond to field service calls, including potential overtime or emergency repairs. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li></li><li>High school diploma or GED required; technical school or diesel mechanic certification preferred. </li><li>Must have own tools. </li><li>3-5+ years of experience repairing heavy industrial or construction equipment. </li><li>Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and heavy equipment diagnostics. </li><li>Ability to read and understand technical manuals and schematics. </li><li>Welding and fabrication skills preferred. </li><li>Valid NC driver's license required; CDL preferred. </li><li>Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. </li><li>Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, and reaching. </li><li>Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. </li><li>Ability to stand for extended periods of time. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Shop and field-based work on active industrial construction sites. </li><li>Exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, grease, oil, and other industrial hazards. </li><li>May require travel to job sites and occasional overtime, nights, or weekends. </li></ul> <p>Key Competencies</p> <ul> <li></li><li>Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. </li><li>Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. </li><li>Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. </li><li>Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. </li><li>Repairing - Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools. </li><li>Troubleshooting - Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it. </li><li>Coordination - Adjusting actions in relation to others' actions. </li><li>Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. </li><li>Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems. </li><li>Precision Control - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions. </li><li>Manual Dexterity - The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. </li><li>Arm-Hand Steadiness - The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your arm or while holding your arm and hand in one position. </li><li>Multilimb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion. </li><li>Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer). </li><li>Oral Comprehension - The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. </li><li>Problem Sensitivity - The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. </li><li>Static Strength - The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects. </li><li>Trunk Strength - The ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing. </li><li>Finger Dexterity - The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble very small objects </li></ul> <p>Unless you are given a written contract signed by the President of The Roberts Company specifying an employment term, your employment is considered "at-will".
