<p>WESTERN BOONE COUNTY COMMUNITY SCHOOL CORPORATION</p> <p>JOB TITLE: Computer Technician</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Technology Support Staff</p> <p>LOCATION: Western Boone Jr.-Sr. High School</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director of Business & Technology and Building Principal</p> <p>SCHEDULE: 12 months, 260 days per year</p> <p>SUMMARY: The Computer Technician supports a Windows-based 1:1 learning environment in a public junior/senior high school setting. This individual is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of student and staff devices, network peripherals, and instructional technology systems. The technician collaborates with faculty, staff, and district technology personnel to ensure seamless integration of technology into the academic environment and alignment with district instructional goals.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Provide front-line technical support for all hardware and software issues related to Windows laptops and desktops assigned to students and staff. </li><li>Perform diagnostics, maintenance, imaging, updates, and repairs of Windows devices in the 1:1 program. </li><li>Support users with device setup, software installation, password resets, and connectivity troubleshooting. </li><li>Manage inventory and asset tracking of all school-issued devices, peripherals, and related equipment. </li><li>Assist with student laptop distribution, collection, and lifecycle replacement events. </li><li>Manages student-led helpdesk program including student technician training. </li><li>Ensure appropriate functioning of printers, classroom display technology (e.g., projectors, interactive whiteboards), and peripheral equipment. </li><li>Supports staff with the student information system (SIS) for attendance, grades, discipline and other functions of the SIS. </li><li>Collaborate with instructional staff to support the effective use of technology in the classroom. </li><li>Maintain documentation of support activities, procedures, and incidents using district-approved systems (e.g., help desk/ticketing software). </li><li>Follow data security, FERPA, and district guidelines for the protection of student information. </li><li>Participate in technology-related training and professional development. </li><li>Assist in maintaining schoolwide wireless access and connectivity in collaboration with the district's network administrators. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or equivalent coursework in Information Technology or related field preferred. </li><li>Minimum of two years of relevant experience supporting Windows operating systems in an enterprise or educational environment preferred. </li><li>Experience supporting 1:1 student technology initiatives in K-12 schools is a plus. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in Windows 10/11 operating systems, Microsoft Office 365, and remote management tools. </li><li>Familiarity with device imaging, deployment tools (e.g., Microsoft Endpoint Manager), and inventory systems. </li><li>Understanding of basic networking concepts (IP addressing, wireless connectivity, printers). </li><li>Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills. </li><li>Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users. </li><li>Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. </li><li>Physical ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds, crawl under desks, and perform repairs. </li></ul> <p>INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:</p> <ul> <li>Adopts the "family" culture at Western Boone. </li><li>Communicates clearly. </li><li>Maintains a positive demeanor on a day-to-day basis. </li><li>Resolves conflicts and shows empathy. </li><li>Works well in a team environment. </li><li>Works well with little supervision and is self-motivated. </li><li>Smiles and uses sense of humor when appropriate. </li></ul> <p>OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings. </li><li>Helps instill in students the belief and practice of ethical principles and democratic values. </li><li>Maintains effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. </li><li>Speaks clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. </li><li>Conducts other duties as assigned by the administration on a temporary or emergency basis to facilitate the operation processes of the School Corporation. </li></ul> <p>LICENSING & BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess a valid Indiana driver's license. </li><li>Must pass a criminal background check and other pre-employment screenings as required by the school district. </li></ul> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</p> <p>This position operates primarily within a school environment, including classrooms, labs, and administrative offices.
