This role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to deliver meaningful, person-centered occupational therapy services in home and community-based settings.</p> <p>Under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist, the COTA assists in implementing occupational therapy services, conducting assessments, and supporting individuals with disabilities and chronic conditions. With more than 60 years of experience, we provide person-centered, community-based services that empower individuals to live meaningful, independent lives.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Therapeutic Support & Intervention</p> <ul> <li>Assist in conducting occupational therapy assessments and implementing treatment plans </li><li>Support individuals in developing skills related to daily living, mobility, and independence </li><li>Provide education and training on adaptive equipment and assistive technology </li><li>Promote safety and accessibility within home and community environments </li></ul> <p>Assessment & Resource Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Evaluate the need for adaptive equipment, home modifications, and assistive technology </li><li>Assist individuals in identifying and accessing funding resources for equipment and modifications </li><li>Support participants in connecting with community-based health and wellness resources </li><li>Monitor how medical conditions impact functional abilities and daily activities </li></ul> <p>Education & Training</p> <ul> <li>Provide participants and caregivers with training to improve independence and safety </li><li>Educate individuals on managing chronic conditions and preventing additional health concerns </li><li>Support caregivers in implementing effective strategies and interventions </li></ul> <p>Documentation & Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and assessments </li><li>Ensure compliance with professional standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements </li><li>Safeguard confidential and sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA </li></ul> <p>Safety & Professional Standards</p> <ul> <li>Respond appropriately to safety concerns and emergencies </li><li>Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment </li><li>Act as a role model by promoting the organization's mission, values, and person-centered approach </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques and interventions </li><li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Commitment to ethical and professional practice </li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively </li><li>Responsiveness and strong organizational skills </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license required (Rhode Island) </li><li>Associate's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program required </li><li>Minimum of one year of related experience preferred </li><li>Valid Class C or Class D driver's license </li></ul>
