<p>Director of Recreation - Full Time</p> <p>The Lutheran Care Center at Poughkeepsie is currently seeking a full time Director of Recreation to join our team. Competitive pay, along with medical, dental, vision, 4 weeks' vacation, 10 holidays, 4 personal days, 12 sick days, tuition reimbursement, and a 403(b) for eligible employees.</p> <p>Job Summary: Provide an organized, ongoing recreation/ activities program appropriate to the needs and interests of the residents.</p> <p>Duties/Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, supervise, and direct the Recreation Therapy/Activities program and ensure that written policies/procedures are current and being carried out. </li><li>Recruit, hire, and supervise Recreation Therapy employees. </li><li>Develop and implement programs to encourage residents to maintain regular community contracts. </li><li>Provide Administrator with monthly reports and statistics of the type, frequency, and number of residents participating in the program. </li><li>Prepare and implement operating and capital annual budgets in area of responsibility. </li><li>Plans programs in conjunction with other disciplines to help achieve specific treatment goals. </li><li>Attend management staff meetings and participates in policy decisions for the facility which may affect recreation services. </li><li>Assure ongoing staff development and education in the area of Recreation Therapy and Activities through in-service training of all employees. </li><li>Oversee and control expenditures against approved budgets. </li><li>Fosters and maintains good public relations with local organizations, church groups, professional societies, etc. </li><li>Serve on and participate in various committees on the facility as required and as appointed. </li><li>Develop and publish monthly activities calendar based on assessed needs and customary routines of residents. </li><li>Oversee and/or provide recreation therapy series for those residents identified as needing this type of one-on-one or group therapy. </li><li>Coordinate departmental PI activities. Ensure that required reports are accurate, timely and submitted quarterly to the PI committee. </li><li>Conduct resident assessments on admission and regularly thereafter. Ensure that Recreation Therapy/Activities Care Plan is complete, accurate, and timely. </li><li>Coordinate the decoration of the facility at holiday times. </li><li>Supervise and coordinate Beauty Salon Services, including independent contractors. </li><li>Coordinate facility volunteers. </li><li>Other duties as required </li></ul> <p>Education, Training, Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy; Master's Degree preferred. </li><li>Holds a current CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist). </li><li>3 years of prior experience as a Recreation Therapist in a Long Term Care setting. directly related experience. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills/Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and customer service communication skills. </li><li>Must be service-oriented, patient, tactful, cheerful, and enthusiastic. </li><li>Must possess the ability to make independent decisions and function as part of a team </li><li>Understanding of the issues of the elderly in long-term care accompanied by good clinical and organizational skills. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements: Some long hours of work.
