<p>Design and Construction Project Manager - IQMP</p> <p>Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park</p> <p>This position will be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement but will require regular presence in Chicago.</p> <p>This position is not eligible for any type of sponsorship for work authorization.</p> <p>The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is a public land-grant research university in Illinois in the twin cities of Champaign and Urbana. For more information, visit our website.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Provide assistance to the Assistant Director, Design and Construction on the planning, development, design and implementation of capital projects and facilities on the IQMP campus. This position will include working closely with colleagues in the University of Illinois Real Estate Services on the delivery of University facilities on the IQMP campus. The Project Manager will manage projects related to specialized infrastructure systems (e.g., cryoplant systems), work with prospective tenants to develop schematic concepts, and prepare detailed space specifications to support leasing, planning and design decisions.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Support construction management activities across IQMP projects, track project schedules, key milestones, budgets, and quality standards. Coordinate permitting processes with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring compliance with local, state, and university requirements. </li><li>Support land planning activities, including site evaluations, infrastructure coordination, and integration with long-term campus and district plans. Support the Assistant Director in strategic planning related to facilities, infrastructure, and district-wide development. </li><li>Collaborate with University of Illinois Real Estate Services on the design and development of University facilities within the IQMP. Assist in the development of schematic design concepts for prospective tenants to help them visualize their presence at the IQMP. Prepare and refine space specifications to support leasing, programming, and facility planning efforts. </li><li>Assist, monitor, and manage IQMP capital programs/special projects and ensure that established timelines and related departmental objectives/goals are met. Responsible for tracking pending deadlines and notifying appropriate officials/staff accordingly and advising the Assistant Director of changes/updates. </li><li>Assist in developing, preparing, and implementing standards and guidelines related to IQMP policies and procedures to promote consistency, incorporate industry practices, and achieve optimum efficiency with operations and services. </li><li>Prepare written reports, presentations, and project updates for leadership, governance bodies, and partner organizations including regular reporting on project status, schedule, budget and key risks. Support community engagement efforts that promote the mission, visibility, and impact of the IQMP. </li><li>Perform other duties appropriate for this classification. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a closely related field. </li><li>Four (4) years of commercial construction management experience. </li><li>Demonstrated experience working within the Chicago development, construction, and/or permitting environment. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in architecture, engineering, real estate, urban planning, or a related field. </li><li>AIA, PE, PMP or CCM preferred. </li><li>Education, training and/or work experience in capital planning, budgeting, real estate development, property management, and/or construction management. </li><li>Experience with large, complex capital projects (e.g., infrastructure, institutional, or research facilities). </li><li>Experience with P3 (public private partnership) project delivery models. </li><li>Familiarity with university or research park development environments. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to communicate effectively, including strong presentation skills and the ability to convey complex technical information in clear ways for a wide range of audiences. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge of CAD software, Revit preferred. Experience using the Adobe Creative Suite. </li><li>Experience using Bluebeam, Procore, and/ or other project management software (smartsheets, Microsoft Projects etc). </li><li>Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow through. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners. </li><li>Proven community engagement and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Administrative/managerial skills to contribute toward maintaining a productive work environment to ensure daily operational needs are met, and to promote uninterrupted service in the absence of the Assistant Director. </li><li>Ability to generate and interpret budgets and financial reports containing complex information and data to facilitate business transactions that are accurate and processed in a timely manner. </li><li>Excellent problem-solving skills to address difficult, complex issues. </li><li>Ability to work independently and demonstrated independent decision-making ability that includes interpreting information, analyzing situations for an appropriate response, and effectively facilitating and committing a course of action. </li><li>Ability to multi-task and prioritize work accordingly to meet deadlines while staying on task with daily assignments. </li></ul> <p>Appointment Information</p> <p>This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5012 - Construction Project Manager position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close date. The budgeted salary range for the position is $70,000 to $90,000.
