<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Position Overview</p> <p>Sharon Center School is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and collaborative professional to serve as the Manager of School Operations & Board Services. This key leadership support role partners closely with the Principal to ensure the smooth, efficient operation of the school while supporting strategic priorities, compliance, and communication across all systems.</p> <p>This position also serves as the Board Clerk, playing a critical role in supporting Board of Education operations, maintaining official records, and ensuring compliance with public meeting requirements.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities - Executive & Operational Leadership</p> <ul> <li>Partner with the Principal to manage priorities, initiatives, and school operations </li><li>Coordinate systems, workflows, and school-wide processes </li><li>Support strategic planning, reporting, and presentations </li><li>Serve as a liaison between the Principal and internal and external stakeholders </li></ul> <p>Board of Education Services (Board Clerk)</p> <ul> <li>Prepare Board agendas, materials, and meeting documentation </li><li>Record and maintain official meeting minutes and records </li><li>Ensure compliance with FOIA and public meeting requirements </li><li>Coordinate Board meetings, workshops, and community forums </li><li>Maintain organized and accessible Board documentation and archives </li></ul> <p>Human Resources Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Support onboarding and personnel record management </li><li>Serve as a liaison with district and regional Human Resources staff </li><li>Ensure compliance with personnel procedures and recordkeeping requirements </li></ul> <p>Business & Financial Operations</p> <ul> <li>Assist with budget development and monitor expenditures </li><li>Coordinate purchasing and financial reporting </li><li>Oversee accounts payable and school-based financial tracking </li><li>Monitor grants, funding allocations, and internal financial controls </li></ul> <p>Payroll & Compliance Support</p> <ul> <li>Process payroll-related documentation, including time records, stipends, and contractual payments </li><li>Review payroll submissions for accuracy and timeliness </li><li>Maintain payroll records and support required reporting, including quarterly and year-end submissions </li></ul> <p>Systems & Communication</p> <ul> <li>Streamline administrative systems and improve workflows </li><li>Support school communications and coordination across stakeholders </li><li>Serve as a central point of contact for staff, families, leadership, and community members </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree preferred </li><li>Experience in school administration, business operations, human resources, or a related field preferred </li><li>Experience with budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, or financial operations strongly preferred </li><li>Familiarity with public sector or Board of Education operations preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills & Attributes</p> <ul> <li>Exceptional organizational and systems-thinking abilities </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and meet deadlines </li><li>High level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality </li><li>Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset </li><li>Proficiency with Google Workspace and administrative systems </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <ul> <li>Office and school-based position in a collaborative, fast-paced environment </li><li>Occasional lifting of files, boxes, and meeting materials </li><li>Attendance at evening Board of Education meetings and school events is required </li><li>The daily schedule for this position may vary to support evening Board meetings and other school-related events. </li></ul> <p>For more information, please contact Principal Carol Tomkalski at (860) 364-5153 or via email at ctomkalski@sharoncenterschool.org.</p> <p>Regional School District No. 1 provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
