<p>Job Description and Duties</p> <p>Under the general direction of the Office Chief of Engineering Services, a Supervising Transportation Engineer, the Senior Transportation Engineer will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Division of Design Quality Management Plan (QMP) and will lead the Quality Management Assurance (QMA) team in reviewing design products and ensuring compliance with applicable design standards and guidlines. Responsible for managing the activities of staff conducting Independent Quantity Calculations and directing the work of staff developing and preparing Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) as contract documents.</p> <p>PARF# 07-5-627 / JC-477228</p> <p>Eligibility for hire may be determined by your score on the Senior Transportation Engineer, Caltrans exam. Main St., Los Angeles, Los Angeles County.</p> <p>The incumbent will work in a climate-controlled environment under artificial lighting most of the time, occasional field work subject to varying climate, dust, and uneven terrain to review issues may be required. It is inherent upon the incumbent to keep the staff, the workplace, and the office environment as comfortable and stress free as possible. The incumbent may also be required to travel to offsite locations for meetings, trainings, and field activities. These locations may be in the metropolitan area or remote site (i.e. HQ, or vicinity of project locations). Outside activity includes exposure to sunlight, moving traffic, loud noise, weather conditions of extreme heat and/or cold, dust, and walking on uneven terrain.</p> <p>This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans's evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee's designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.
