<p>Position: Assistant or Associate Professor Faculty Position in Computer Science</p> <p>Faculty Unit: Faculty of Math and Computing</p> <p>Program: Computer & Information Sciences</p> <p>Closing Date: Review of applications will begin August 2025</p> <p>Job Type: Full-time</p> <p>Job Category: Faculty</p> <p>Status: Open</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>A master's or doctorate in computer science or a closely related field is required. Foreign equivalent degree from a nationally accredited institution accepted. ABD near completion will also be considered (must complete degree by start date). Exceptionally qualified candidates with a master's degree will be considered if they demonstrate substantial teaching effectiveness and/or significant industry experience relevant to the undergraduate curriculum. </li><li>As an educational institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Church), BYU-Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. § 60-1.5 (a)(6). To be eligible for employment, applicants who are members of the Church must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend and receive a clearance from the Church's Ecclesiastical Clearance Office. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Teaching requirement is typically 30 semester credit hours per year over three semesters in some (but not all) of the following subject areas/courses:</p> <p>Programming and Software Development</p> <ul> <li>Computer Programming (Procedural, Object-Oriented, Functional) </li><li>Software Engineering and Agile Practices </li></ul> <p>Systems and Applied Computing</p> <ul> <li>Computer Systems and Operating Systems </li><li>Networking and Internet Technologies </li><li>Databases and Web Services </li><li>Cybersecurity Principles </li></ul> <p>Theoretical and Foundational Computer Science</p> <ul> <li>Discrete Mathematics and Data Structures for Computer Science </li><li>Algorithms and Computational Complexity </li><li>Theory of Computation, Automata, and Formal Languages </li></ul> <p>Additional Teaching Responsibilities May Include</p> <ul> <li>Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning </li><li>Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) </li><li>Data Science Foundations </li></ul> <p>Scholarship, creative endeavor, ongoing professional development, and university service are required.</p> <p>BYU-Hawaii's primary focus is undergraduate learning and teaching. The individual should be fully committed to the university's mission (https://about.byuh.edu/mission.html) and learning framework (https://clt.byuh.edu/framework-for-learning).</p> <p>Benefits:</p> <ul> <li>Salary range: 110K to 133K, depending on credentials, rank and experience. </li><li>Housing stipend. </li><li>A relocation expense package is provided. </li><li>Annually renewable contract eligible for Continuing Faculty Status (BYU-H equivalent of "tenure-track"). </li><li>Standard BYU-Hawaii benefits package for regular full-time employees. </li></ul> <p>Procedures: Please complete and submit the following application materials using our online portal.
