<p>Are you an experienced traffic operations professional ready to take a leadership role in the field? The City of Hampton is seeking a highly skilled Traffic Maintenance professional to perform advanced traffic maintenance work involving traffic signs, barriers, guardrails, pavement markings, and specialized equipment operation while leading and directing a field crew.</p> <p>"Join the City of Hampton team! Hampton offers excellent benefits, career and professional development, tuition reimbursement and other benefits."</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED. </li><li>Considerable experience in traffic operations; Thermo-Plastic pavement markings and equipment required; Strong working knowledge of the MUTCD Manual and the Virginia Work Area Protection Manual; considerable knowledge of hand tools, carpentry, mechanics or painting. </li><li>Candidate must have the ability to be IMSA Signs and Marking certified and do so within 1 year of hire date; work zone certified within 6 months of hire date. ? Must possess a valid driver's license and have and maintain a satisfactory driving record based on the City of Hampton's criteria. </li><li>Must possess or have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B within 180 days of employment. </li><li>This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements and the City's current substance abuse policy. </li><li>Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Frequent contact with the general public and other city employees. </li><li>May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include nights, weekends and holidays. </li><li>Work conditions can be disagreeable and potentially dangerous. </li><li>The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules. </li></ul> <p>Click here for a complete job description.</p>
