<p>Closing Date: 5/28/2026 Project Manager (AE&ES)Department of Architecture & EngineeringAnnual Salary Range: $94,432.00 - $141,648.00</p> <p>Job Summary: Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of design and construction capital projects ensuring consistency with Milwaukee County strategies, standards, commitments and goals. Provide project management with the best practices and processes throughout design, planning, cost estimating, bid/construction document preparation, consultant management, and close-out for Capital Improvement Projects on Milwaukee County facilities and infrastructure. Deliver responsive customer service to departments through timely project reporting and communications. Functions include leading meetings with key stakeholders on project planning, budgeting, and schedule, with ongoing leadership of project execution and deliverables to accomplish the project goals and objectives. May work individually or lead a team of internal and external resources to accomplish objectives. Essential Responsibilities:</p> <p>Use project management best practices to develop, coordinate, execute and control design and construction projects with internal and/or external consultants and contractor. Responsible for managing all phases of Capital project development and execution, including scope development, cost estimating, consultant selection, design, bidding, contractor selection, contracting, schedule and risk management, construction management, project closeout, and all required project documentation in accordance with all applicable codes and ordinances of governing bodies, and department policies. Manage, supervise, and check the development of complete plans, drawings, specifications and cost estimates for the construction, alteration, or maintenance of Milwaukee County facilities. Prepare requests for proposals, conduct project bidding, and manage contract awards. Assist with inspections or supervision of construction projects to ensure the project is completed in accordance with plans and specs. Prepare periodic payments, prepare/negotiate change orders, conduct final inspections, and deliver close-out documents. Utilize the department standard Project Management software to keep project information up to date and provide timely communication and reporting to customers and management. Hold constulatnts and contractors accountable for their project responsibilities and timely completion of tasks. Coodinate efforts across county deparments as required for effective project delivery. Project Budget and Schedule Responsibility. Monitor and control project spend within budget, and schedule within stakeholder timing expectations. Track allocated hours and project commitments and ensure accurate accounting of resource and project spend. Develop and execute corrective actions as needed to attain project goals. Support legislative processes as needed to approve contracts and funding sources. Ensure delivery on customer priorities through effective project reporting and communications to support ongoing scope, schedule, and budget reviews. Interact regularly with project stakeholders to ensure timely progress updates with a focus on delivering on project commitments. Provide close-out documents including record drawings, Operation & Maintenance Manuals, and recommended maintenance programs for completed projects to customer operating departments and the Facility Condition Assessment Program manager as part of the project close-out process. Provide advice to facility management partners as needed with technical assistance, scope definition, cost estimates and plan specifications for repair and maintenance projects. Research, recommend, and implement project management policies, principals, and practices. May serve as liaison or Milwaukee County representative to other Milwaukee County departments or outside agencies to partner, gather, and disseminate these best practices. Participate in and support special project and program improvement task groups, as assigned. Promote teamwork and a culture of collaboration, work effectively in a matrix environment where lines of reporting are mixed, and complete projects with internal and external resources that may not have direct reporting or chain of command authority to this position. Provide lessons learned, and continuously improve project management maturity within Milwaukee County.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>Current residency within the State of Wisconsin required A valid Wisconsin Driver's license is required and must be maintained throughout employment.</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related fields At least five (5) or more years of related experience. Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.</p> <p>Preferred Areas. All preferred areas would be considered:</p> <p>Certified Construction Manager certification from the Construction Management Association of America Certified Professional Construction certification from the American Institution of Constructors Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute Registered Architect Professional Engineer license</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Thorough knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of construction project management (planning, design, and construction). Working knowledge of theories, principles, and practices of architecture and engineering. Experience with construction cost estimating; use of project management software; experience with organizing and leading meetings, and good presentation skills. Ability to supervise and perform quality assurance on preparation of construction bid documents for a variety of public works projects. Ability to supervise the preparation of analytical engineering reports on complex public works projects.
