Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:</p> <p>Participates in the care of outpatients in the congenital heart center. Specifically, general cardiology clinic and focused clinics for infants in the interstage period. Once trained, the interstage visits will be directed or independent visits.</p> <p>Participates in both in person and virtual visits.</p> <p>Participates in program development, protocol review and development, and quality improvement with opportunities to participate in clinical research.</p> <p>Consistent with the collaborative practice agreement, diagnose and treat patients in a medical and post-surgical care setting. Exercises autonomy in medical decision-making and provides a range of diagnostic and therapeutic services. This will include managing patients with complex, acute, and chronic health conditions. Performs admission H&P's, consults, new patient visits, return visits and subsequent care days.</p> <p>Performs health assessments, including patient history, physical examinations, diagnostic tests and appropriate interventions or referrals.</p> <p>Documents patient care, progress towards goals and maintains complete and detailed patient records. Provides health education. Develops and implements patient education programs. Presents workshops, lectures and in-service programs for care team members as well as patients and families.</p> <p>A small portion of effort will be spent providing cross coverage for other Advanced Practice Providers (responsibilities TBD).</p> <p>Nursing Specific Info</p> <p>Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.</p> <p>Applicants who have left the UMPNC bargaining unit must include on their resume dates of past employment including months and years of service along with effort. Positions less than 20 hours/week may be combined.</p> <p>If you have questions regarding this posting or would like assistance with nursing opportunities please contact Nurse Recruitment at (734) 936-5183.</p> <p>Nursing Specific Info</p> <p>Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.</p> <p>Required Qualifications*</p> <p>Nurse Practitioner</p> <ul> <li>Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan </li><li>Current specialty certification to practice as an Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner </li><li>Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program </li><li>Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). </li><li>Current DEA registration required </li><li>PALS certification (if ACLS certified, must have PALS within 1-2 months of employment) </li><li>Three (3) years of clinical care for pediatric cardiology/cardiac surgery patients </li></ul> <p>Physician Assistant</p> <ul> <li>Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP. </li><li>Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA). </li><li>Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan. </li><li>State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required </li><li>Current DEA registration required </li><li>PALS certification (if ACLS certified, must have PALS within 1-2 months of employment) </li><li>Three (3) years of clinical care for pediatric cardiology/cardiac surgery patients </li></ul> <p>NOTE:</p> <ul> <li>Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process. </li></ul> <p>In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.</p> <p>RESUME REQUIRED (for both internal & external applicants):</p> <p>You must attach a complete and accurate resume to be fully considered for this position.</p> <p>Desired Qualifications*</p> <ul> <li>APP experience in caring for congenital heart disease, pediatric cardiology or pediatric cardiac surgery patients. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to complete history and physical examination, order appropriate diagnostic studies; synthesize information and make informed clinical decisions; develop appropriate care plans that are responsive to patient and family needs and preferences in a pediatric acute or critical care setting and in a clinic setting. </li><li>Prior experience in quality improvement and research in this population </li><li>Demonstrated skill with patient education in post surgical management for pediatric cardiac surgery patients </li><li>Demonstrated skill with and knowledge of the principles of Patient and Family Centered Care. </li><li>Demonstrated high level of critical thinking and ability to prioritize assignments and manage a busy work environment. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. </li><li>Self-directed, reliable, demonstrates initiative and motivation to work independently as evidenced by previous/current employment experience and demonstrated in annual evaluations. </li><li>Must reflect a professional appearance and demeanor and possess excellent customer service skills </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>Hours per week: 40</p> <p>Days/ Hours/ Shift: Day shift</p> <p>Location: Congenital Heart Center at the University of Michigan C.S.
