The Educator must be licensed in Special Education with an endorsement in Elementary or Secondary Education. In addition, the District is also seeking someone who has a background or training in teaching co-teaching. Must be trained (or willing to be trained) in Enrich IEP software.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide a continuum of services with students with disabilities, including instruction in the general classroom and pull-out specialized instruction in the special education classroom. </li><li>Provide materials and teaching techniques that are research-based and that will address the needs of students with disabilities. </li><li>Assist the administration at their request in any matter that may command priority and bring to their attention issues of concern regarding special education services and programs to increase efficiency and effectiveness. </li><li>Maintain the confidentiality of school district record files, conversations and meetings that have not become a part of the public record. </li><li>Communicate with the immediate supervisor in a direct and open fashion to facilitate the finding of solutions to school district and interpersonal problems and misunderstandings. </li><li>Provide a responsible diagnostic and prescriptive program for children in alignment with special education law and MTSS. </li><li>Assess and evaluate students who are referred for possible special education services in order to determine eligibility and pinpoint strengths and weaknesses in learning styles and academic achievement. </li><li>Work in an instructional capacity individually or in small group with students assigned to a special education program. Collaborate with staff and parents. </li><li>Consult with parents and assist them in understanding their child's learning needs. </li><li>Provide consultation services to the classroom teacher and other related service team members in areas of student need. </li><li>Act as a team member, attending meetings and develop, with a team, IEPs designed to meet the needs of students with disabilities. </li><li>Act as an advocate in an advisory capacity for meeting the needs of children with educational disabilities in the community and at parent group meetings. </li><li>Provide in-service and workshops for teachers and staff during the school year. </li><li>Evaluate the progress of students and documenting progress monitoring. </li><li>Complete all necessary forms and records as required by Sheridan School District and the Colorado Department of Education. </li><li>Participate in workshops for professional growth. </li><li>Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building principal or Special Education Director in accordance with district policies. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>The Special Education Teacher shall hold a valid Colorado license with approved endorsement. </li><li>Bachelor's degree or higher required from an accredited university or college. </li><li>Completed a state approved Teacher Preparation Program, participation in a Teacher in Resident Program or participation in an Alternative Teacher License program. </li><li>Demonstrates competency by one of the following means: </li><li>Pass the Praxis test. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <p>The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and signification fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY DUTIES:</p> <p>None</p> <p>CLEARANCES:</p> <p>Must clear background check through the CBI and the FBI through Fingerprint submission.</p>
