<p>Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be part of a team of approximately 48 engineers working under the guidance of a Group Leader. Your primary goal will be to enhance safety, quality, and cost initiatives by examining equipment, processes, and operations for productivity and process improvements. This role involves hands-on work, with 60-70% of your time spent on the manufacturing floor and the remainder in an office environment working on engineering documentation or design work.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Plan and implement machine and process improvements related to safety, quality, and cost. </li><li>Conduct root-cause analysis and implement countermeasures. </li><li>Improve and update existing General Engineering Design and Process Planning Sheets. </li><li>Prepare spare parts based on availability and mean time between failures. </li><li>Initiate setup and process capability studies, establishing setup conditions for ongoing capability. </li><li>Conduct internal trial builds and external run-offs in the U.S.A., Japan, etc. </li><li>Complete work in a timely manner to meet established divisional goals. </li><li>Support machine recovery work in difficult-to-solve issues (contingency planning). </li><li>Interact with the design team to improve product design for lower cost and improved manufacturing. </li><li>Develop process plans and capital acquisition proposals for presentation to the executive management team. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Engineering. </li><li>2+ years of experience in a manufacturing/process engineering role in an automotive environment. </li><li>Experience with CAD software (Solidworks preferred). </li><li>Understanding of basic manufacturing processes such as assembly, testing, roll forming, bending, metal stamping, injection molding, welding (MAG, TIG, resistance, etc.), and plastic extrusion. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Previous tool & die experience and communication with tooling suppliers. </li><li>Experience with robotics. </li><li>Experience with plastic injection molding. </li><li>Hands-on abilities or hobbies such as working on cars, farming, or fabrication. </li><li>Projects at school, internships, or similar experiences demonstrating a desire to learn and general curiosity. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work environment is a large manufacturing plant with 2000 employees. The plant is climate-controlled and kept clean despite producing a lot of scrap. You will spend 60-70% of your time on the manufacturing floor and the remaining time in an office environment. This is a first-shift position, from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a one-hour lunch break. Overtime is not common but may be required occasionally.
