No VP Area U of U Health - Academics Department 00269 - Orthopedic Surgery Operations Location Campus City Salt Lake City, UT Type of Recruitment External Posting Pay Rate Range $300 to $750 (Shift determined) Close Date 07/01/2025 Priority Review Date (Note - Posting may close at any time) Job Summary</p> <ul> <li>The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is looking for a 'call only' PA or APRN for a position in Pediatric Orthopaedic Surgery. </li><li>This position is responsible for providing both primary and specialty medical services. </li><li>This position may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice and according to state law. </li><li>This position is non-benefited. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <ul> <li>Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians. </li><li>Performs physical examinations. </li><li>Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures. </li><li>Orders and supervises the administration of blood products. </li><li>Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions. </li><li>Develops treatment plans in conjunction with an attending physician. </li><li>Admits patients to hospital and rounds on patients in hospital. </li><li>Interpretation of radiology studies, reduction of fractures and dislocations. </li><li>Assists in operating room under direction of an attending physician. </li><li>Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings and conferences. </li><li>Assists in the collection of data for research projects. </li><li>Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams. </li><li>Participates in special projects and committee functions. </li><li>Problem Solving </li><li>Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. </li><li>Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served. </li><li>Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Current licensure to practice as a Physician's Assistant from the State of Utah. </li><li>Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria. </li></ul> <p>This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
