This 11-month position offers an exciting opportunity for a nurse educator to teach and provide leadership and vision for the Department of Nursing, located at the University of South Carolina Beaufort campus location in Bluffton, South Carolina with satellite cohorts in Beaufort and Walterboro. The Department currently houses a CCNE accredited baccalaureate program. The first RN to BSN cohort graduated in May 2009 and the initial pre-licensure class graduated in April 2011. The successful candidate for the position will: 1) Possess an earned doctorate in nursing, preferably a research doctorate from a CCNE-accredited university and an unencumbered registered nurse license in both South Carolina and Georgia. 2) Demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, experience with program development and accreditation3) Have a record of at least five years prior effective experience in nursing education administration4) Have a record of sustained scholarship and distinguished service to the profession commensurate with the rank of an associate or full professor with tenure. This position provides leadership for the programs, program growth, and effective nursing education for BSN Pre-licensure students as well as involvement in service and scholarly activities. The department chair has a teaching load of at least one class per semester in addition to the preparation of accreditation and program reports, performing administrative duties (e.g., course scheduling, program assessment, student advising), and providing mentorship to junior faculty. This is a senior faculty appointment with a renewable appointment as Department Chair. Salary and rank are commensurate with education and qualifications.
