<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist - Bronx</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Phlebotomist to join our team in the Bronx. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of recent phlebotomy experience and be proficient with straight needles. Strong communication skills, reliability, punctuality, and bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish are essential for this role.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws, label specimens, and centrifuge specimens. </li><li>Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures. </li><li>Update patient information as needed. </li><li>Collect and store specimens following established procedures. </li><li>Explain the venipuncture process and other specimen collection procedures clearly and courteously. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes accurately. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. </li><li>Verify test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport and store sample specimens at required temperatures. </li><li>Ensure proper labeling and protocol adherence for specimen integrity during transport. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>Expertise in specimen collection, laboratory techniques, and phlebotomy. </li><li>Strong customer service skills. </li><li>Proficiency with straight needles, blood draw, and venipuncture. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual in English and Spanish. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Friday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, and every other Saturday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Burnside location.
