NYRR is one of the largest non-profit providers of youth and community fitness programming in New York City (with a growing national/international footprint). The Youth Program team develops, administers, and supports an evolving portfolio of youth running programs and resources used by schools, community centers, and families throughout New York City and nationwide. NYRR's flagship youth program, Rising New York Road Runners, brings the benefits of physical activity to various sites to help children develop the ability, confidence, and desire to be physically active for life. The Community Program team develops, administers, and supports a comprehensive portfolio of programs including our renowned NYRR Striders walking/fitness program for older adults, our NYRR Open Run platform that provides free running and walking racing, and community-building opportunities in parks across the city, and bespoke programs such as NYRR Run for the Future and Youth Ambassadors that provide deep engagement and lifelong skills such as running techniques and public speaking. The Youth Events team oversees the development and execution of over 35 Rising NYRR events per year, including events associated with our Five-Borough Series and the TCS New York City Marathon, each serving 100-1000 or more participants, and the support of other youth and community-based efforts.</p> <p>About the Position</p> <p>The Youth Events Lead position provides event development, scheduling, budgeting and execution of close to 25 youth events per year, each serving 500-2,000 or more participants. This position will report to the Director, Youth Events, with the core responsibility of managing and supporting NYRR youth event properties, including those associated with the TCS New York City Marathon.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):</p> <ul> <li>Under the supervision of the Director, Youth Events, manage the development, logistics and day-of operations of youth events which includes leading about 5 events (e.g. scheduling, permitting, forecasting and budgeting, timeline development, logistics document development, etc.) and supporting the day-of execution of about 20 events, per year, as part of the Youth Events team. </li><li>Work with the Youth Program, Marketing, Creative, Sponsor Products, Staffing and Volunteers teams in the contractual needs, brief creation, website launch, layouts, and enhancement of the event experience, communications while ensuring the incorporation of Rising New York Road Runners philosophy elements. </li><li>Liaison with government agencies (e.g. NYC Department of Education, NYPD, NYC Parks Dpt., Parks Conservancies, DOT, etc.), partners, sponsors, and NYRR approved vendors in the outreach, site finding, permits, contracts, payments, and overall logistics development to ensure smooth execution of the event. </li><li>Work with the Security and Medical team to ensure proper coverage onsite at all managed youth events. </li><li>In support to the rest of the Youth Events team, and other departments, attend scheduled youth events, adult events, and some training sessions (as needed) on weekdays, weeknights and weekends. </li><li>Collaborate with the Event Management Logistics (EML), Warehouse, Race Scoring, Volunteer and Event Staffing, Hospitality, and Safety & Security teams in EDP to ensure all plans integrate seamlessly into the overall event operations. </li><li>Manage a list of specific projects to ensure event development, process improvements, and enhance overall participant's experience. </li><li>Manage risk associated with safety of youth, staff, volunteers, and spectators in and around owned youth events. </li><li>Assist with budget management for all owned youth event operations; review budget needs for vendors, equipment, and other event needs </li><li>Understand the Long-Term Athlete Development program to ensure the Rising New York Road Runners philosophy is a part of all youth events. </li><li>Maintain open, consistent with NYRR's core values, lines of communication with all appropriate, NYRR, partners and sponsors, staff and volunteers. </li><li>Ensure culture, diversity and inclusion are a part of the everyday operations. </li><li>Other duties and department projects, as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 3 years of event (youth specific preferred) project management </li><li>Event site planning and management experience </li><li>Strong logistical/operational and customer service background </li></ul> <p>Education & Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Event Management, or other related field preferred </li></ul> <p>Skills and Attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook) </li><li>Strong attention to detail </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Willingness to travel throughout NYC, work various weekends and extended hours as needed </li><li>Proficient in Adobe Illustrator or AutoCAD is preferred </li></ul> <p>Other Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>CPR/AED and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain </li><li>USATF Official Certification preferred, or willingness to obtain </li><li>Level 1 USATF Coaching Certification preferred or knowledge of track and field and road racing </li><li>Knowledge of NYC Public Schools system preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. </li></ul> <p>Salary: $72,000/year</p> <p>Be advised due to the holidays candidates will be reviewed in January</p>
