<p>Department</p> <p>Department of Children, Youth, and Families</p> <p>Division</p> <p>Education Staff</p> <p>Salary</p> <p>$57,513.00 - $104,902.00</p> <p>Job Profile</p> <p>JC-00837200-85 - Teacher Academic</p> <p>Scheduled Work Days & Work Hours</p> <p>This position is a standard work week, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm.</p> <p>Restricted/Limited to leave of prior incumbent.</p> <p>REPOST.</p> <p>Job Requisition Number</p> <p>JR102113 TEACHER ACADEMIC (Open)</p> <p>Pay Grade</p> <p>U0T001 A</p> <p>Classification</p> <p>Teacher Academic</p> <p>Class Definition</p> <p>Secondary Science Teacher</p> <p>Science Teacher (Grades 7-12)</p> <p>Position Purpose</p> <p>Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to develop students' skills and competence in scientific inquiry, experimentation, and analysis, as well as an understanding of biological, chemical, and physical principles and their application to real-world phenomena and problem-solving.</p> <p>Essential Performance Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Develops and administers science curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives and aligned with state and national science standards. </li><li>Promotes a classroom and laboratory environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, hands-on learning, and student inquiry. </li><li>Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for all subject/content areas. </li><li>Teaches knowledge and skills in science, including biology, chemistry, and physics, and promotes critical thinking, experimentation, and scientific reasoning in all related subject areas. </li><li>Designs learning activities and labs to demonstrate the application of scientific concepts to everyday life and problem-solving. </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed. </li><li>Maintains and enforces laboratory safety procedures and proper use of scientific equipment and materials. </li><li>Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially co-Science Teacher, to support curriculum alignment and interdisciplinary learning. </li><li>Selects and requisitions appropriate textbooks, laboratory materials, instructional aids, technology, and other supplies, and maintains inventory records. </li></ul> <p>Additional Duties</p> <p>Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal.</p> <p>Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities.
