<p>Job Title: Firmware EngineerJob Description</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated Firmware Engineer responsible for the development and optimization of firmware used across multiple products. You will design and develop control algorithms, features, and firmware test processes while ensuring the highest standards of code reusability, execution efficiency, and product performance.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Design and develop control algorithms, features, and firmware test processes for multiple products. </li><li>Perform unit functional tests and robustness tests. </li><li>Continuously improve code reusability and product performance. </li><li>Maintain accurate and up-to-date firmware documentation. </li><li>Collaborate with optical, hardware, and test engineering teams to enhance firmware performance and development processes. </li><li>Coach junior firmware engineers and drive code reviews and best practices. </li><li>Support customers, NPI, and manufacturing by resolving sustaining issues and implementing new customer-requested features. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Expertise in C++ programming for embedded systems. </li><li>Experience with embedded real-time control systems, microcontrollers, and FPGA hardware. </li><li>Proficient in object-oriented design. </li><li>Familiarity with Agile methodologies, CI/CD, and DevOps. </li><li>Experience with lab bench debugging tools such as oscilloscopes and logic analyzers. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>University degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. </li><li>8+ years of experience in the field, or 5+ years for strong candidates. </li><li>Experience in the Optical Communication industry is preferred. </li><li>Knowledge of NIOS, ARM, and GNU toolchains. </li><li>Assembly language experience is preferred. </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. </li><li>Experience with digital signal processing and control theory. </li><li>Excellent communication skills and experience working in cross-cultural/global teams. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Work in a collaborative environment with teams focusing on optical, hardware, and test engineering. The role requires a mix of independent work and teamwork, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation. You will be expected to engage in coding reviews and practices while supporting NPI and manufacturing processes.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Permanent position based out of Horsham, PA.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $165000.00/yr.</p> <p>Notes: -Candidates with 5-7 years of strong, directly relevant experience will be considered. -Telecom/optical communications background is preferred but not mandatory. -Role involves mentoring but not direct reports initially. -Compensation: Target base ~$160k + 15% bonus (business unit performance) + stock plan ($5-10k/year). -On-site work: Typically 3 days/week, more during hardware phases. -Interview: Panel round, possible follow-up with China team.</p> <p>Workplace Type</p> <p>This is a hybrid position in Horsham,PA.</p> <p>Application Deadline</p> <p>This position is anticipated to close on Dec 23, 2025.</p> <p>About Actalent</p> <p>Actalent is a global leader in engineering and sciences services and talent solutions.
