<p>Job Summary</p> <p>The City of St. Peters is looking to hire a motivated, dedicated, and detail-oriented Food and Health Inspector. In this position, you will conduct inspections of food establishments and other regulated facilities while also serving as a trusted resource for business owners, providing guidance and education to support compliance and help local businesses thrive.</p> <p>Your day starts at City Hall reviewing messages and planning inspections, then heads out into the field with a City vehicle, iPad, and mobile printer. This position goes beyond enforcement-you'll be a trusted resource for business owners, answering questions, offering practical advice, and helping them stay compliant while keeping our community safe.</p> <p>Normal Shift: The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; however, evening and weekend inspections are required on a rotating basis, depending on the number of special and temporary events.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine and follow-up health inspections for food service establishments, schools, senior and daycare facilities, body art and massage establishments, and temporary or mobile events </li><li>Enforce applicable ordinances by investigating complaints, documenting findings, and preparing detailed reports </li><li>Maintain accurate, organized, and secure inspection records and documentation </li><li>Administer the fats, oils, and grease (FOG) program </li><li>Respond to resident and customer inquiries, concerns, and complaints in a professional manner </li><li>Stay current on food safety standards and industry updates </li><li>Provide food code education and training to operators and stakeholders </li><li>Exercise independent judgment in situations without clearly defined procedures, including identifying issues and recommending solutions </li><li>Perform all duties in accordance with established City safety standards </li><li>Complete additional assignments as needed </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized to work in the United States </li><li>High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience </li><li>Food Protection Manager Certification (ServSafe) or ability to obtain within three (3) months of employment </li><li>Certified Professional - Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain within one (1) year of employment </li><li>Valid motor vehicle operator's license in the state of Missouri </li><li>Considerable knowledge of the basic principles and practices of sanitation as related to public health </li><li>Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required, including on/off-hour emergencies </li></ul> <p>Why Join Us</p> <p>Working with the City of St. Peters means being part of a team that values service, collaboration, and community impact.
