<ul> <li> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> </li><li> <p>The dispatcher-call taker position involves taking calls for scheduling and dispatching non-emergency medical services as well as emergency dispatching. Required to operate radio, telephone, or computer equipment at dispatch center and relay information to crews.</p> </li><li> <p>DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> </li><li> <p>Overall performance rating of below indicated essential job duties:</p> </li><li> <p>Determines priorities and coordinates dispatching of ambulance and ambulette crews on emergency, immediate, and prescheduled calls. Maintains contact with, and updates status and location of, all designated units.</p> </li><li> <p>Enter, update, and retrieve information from a wide variety of computer systems. Operates a variety of communications equipment, including radio consoles and telephones.</p> </li><li> <p>Can effectively coordinate with other emergency services for mutual aid or support.</p> </li><li> <p>Answers questions and provides information to the public over the telephone.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses good judgment in making decisions in emergency and routine situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Views CCTV monitors reporting concerns to KDMC Security Officers.</p> </li><li> <p>Charge Dispatcher-Call Taker additional duties include scheduling dispatchers-call takers, billing, processing patient transport reports for outside billing and overseeing day-to-day operations of the dispatch office.</p> </li><li> <p>EDUCATION/LICENSE/ CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum requirement:</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or general education degree (GED)</p> </li><li> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or obtain within 90 days of hire</p> </li><li> <p>Current Driver's License</p> </li><li> <p>Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification (within first 6 months)</p> </li><li> <p>Preferred qualifications:</p> </li><li> <p>One year prior EMS or dispatch related experience</p> </li><li> <p>WORKING ENVIRONMENT</p> </li><li> <p>This job operates in a professional office environment routinely using standard office equipment such as computers and telephone.</p> </li><li> <p>The noise level in this position is usually moderate.</p> </li><li> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to maintain a stationary position behind a computer</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to communicate with people telephonically requiring talking and hearing.</p> </li><li> <p>Constantly required to operate a computer and telephone.</p> </li><li> <p>Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.</p> </li></ul>
