This will be a 12-month position for the upcoming school year.</p> <p>Responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Oversight and continuous improvement of all high school special education programming, including inclusive practices, alternative programming, and transition services </li><li>Ensuring compliance with IDEA, including IEP development, evaluations, PPT processes, and legal timelines </li><li>Supervision and evaluation of special education staff, related service providers, and paraprofessionals, including coaching and professional growth </li><li>Collaboration with building and district leadership to support access to curriculum, co-teaching models, and student outcomes </li><li>Design and delivery of professional learning to build staff capacity in meeting diverse learner needs </li><li>Management of complex student cases, including high-needs programming, family communication, and coordination with outside providers </li><li>Participation in budget and resource planning, including staffing, program development, and outplacement considerations </li><li>Testing and interpreting results to develop IEP goals </li><li>Developing creative solutions in high stress/challenging situations </li></ul> <p>The successful candidate should have:</p> <ul> <li>Kindness, intelligence, creativity, and a sense of humor. </li><li>Eligibility for Connecticut certification as an Intermediate Administrator. Endorsement 92 in addition to possessing certification as a special education teacher. </li><li>A record of superior performance as a special education teacher and evidence of successful school leadership. </li><li>A strong academic record, both undergraduate and graduate. </li><li>Substantial knowledge of high school curriculum and instruction, special education law, intellectual curiosity, strength in staff development, a respect for children and a love of learning. </li><li>Experience with co-teaching and similar inclusion models. </li><li>Knowledge of the PPT process and developing IEPs. </li><li>Displaying grace and sensitivity when working with families of disabled students. </li><li>Understanding of 18-22 programing, alternative programming, transition programming, and alternative placements. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, parents, administrators and the community. </li><li>A steady composure, grace under pressure and a willingness to try new things. </li></ul> <p>Annual rate, based on administrative experience, from $159,838 to $181,603 Added $2,000 for a doctorate.</p> <p>Apply online at www.ridgefield.org</p> <p>DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: Until Filled</p>
