<p>The Payroll Specialist supports Cooper Steel's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, and job knowledge.</p> <p>POSITION SUMMARY</p> <p>The Payroll Specialist is responsible for executing all aspects of payroll processing for Cooper Steel. This includes ensuring accurate and timely payment of wages, compliance with all tax laws and company policies, and communication with employees regarding pay-related issues.</p> <p>PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:</p> <ul> <li>Process weekly payroll for all employees in compliance with company policies and all federal, state and local laws. </li><li>Ensure compliance with applicable laws and payroll tax obligations. </li><li>Organize, maintain, and file all payroll related records. </li><li>Create and distribute weekly hours reports for management team. </li><li>Maintain knowledge of payroll best practices and stay up to date with current regulations. </li><li>Coordinate with accounting regarding month-end, year-end processes and necessary payroll data needed. </li><li>Utilize HRIS system to create reports, maintain accurate pay settings, and ensure accurate information. </li><li>Assist with HRIS upgrades, testing and implementation of new features or modules. </li><li>Assist employees directly with payroll and tax related questions. </li><li>Work closely with the HR team to resolve payroll and HRIS system related issues and questions. </li><li>Maintain strict confidentiality for all employee information. </li><li>React productively to change </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>None.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <p>EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE</p> <p>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred</p> <p>2+ years of payroll and HRIS experience and/or equivalent education and experience in job related field</p> <p>Experience with multi-state payroll preferred</p> <p>Prior involvement in HRIS implementation or upgrades preferred</p> <p>OTHER SKILLS</p> <p>Strong analytical and organizational skills; detail oriented; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; self-motivated and capable of working independently within a team; good judgment and ability to handle confidential information; critical thinking; problem solving skills; strong computer skills (Excel and HRIS / payroll platforms); ability to work effectively with others; ability to adapt in a fast paced environment.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.</p>
