<p>This position is in Nursing, Acute Care and Nursing, Operations services at the VA Connecticut Healthcare Systems, located at the West Haven, CT campus. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week.</p> <p>The Chief Nurse executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence the organizational healthcare mission. The Chief Nurse functions as an advisor, administrator, educator, consultant, and mentor who possesses a wide range of experience and leadership ability. The Chief Nurse provides senior leadership and oversight for daily clinical and administrative operations within nursing as directed by the Associate Director for Patient Care Services (ADPCS).</p> <p>Duties include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Integration and collaboration of nursing with other professional disciplines and functional areas in the mutual achievement of patient-centered and organizational goals. </li><li>Champions a High Reliability Organization (HRO) culture of safety, founded on a systems approach to developing evidence-based health care solutions. </li><li>Collaborates with interdisciplinary team members, including other program and service leaders at the facility and network. </li><li>Establish and maintain effective relationships with all levels of Veteran Affairs (VA) staff nationwide. </li><li>Effectively relates with customers, families and community as well as program and service leaders at the local and network levels. </li><li>Assist ADPCS with healthcare operations. </li><li>Contributes ideas and recommendation for the establishment of standards of care, policies and objectives for the enhancement of nursing. </li></ul> <p>VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm. On-call, rotating schedule. This is a 24/7 hospital and assignments are based in Veteran, caregivers and/or family needs.</p> <p>Telework: Ad-hoc as determined by the agency policy.</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Financial Disclosure Report: Required. Selectee must file a financial disclosure report, OGE Form 450, within 30 days of onboarding and then annually.</p> <p>Notifications:</p> <ul> <li>This position is not a Bargaining Unit position. </li><li>Selectee may be required to work at any VA Connecticut Healthcare System campus, as needed. </li><li>Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50 (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held. </li><li>This position is in the Excepted Service. </li><li>The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate. </li></ul>
