<p>Position: Mentor Coordinator</p> <p>Reports To: Director of Federal Programs</p> <p>Salary Schedule/Grade: Refer to Administrator Salary Schedule for Coordinator</p> <p>F.I.S.A. Status: Exempt</p> <p>Job Summary:</p> <p>The Mentor Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing a comprehensive mentoring program for at-risk students in grades K-12. The Mentoring Coordinator will recruit, train, and support mentors and ensure students are matched appropriately to receive consistent academic, emotional, and social guidance. The goal of the program is to promote student success, increase engagement, and reduce risk factors related to academic failure, absenteeism, behavioral issues, and dropout.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Design and manage the district's mentoring program for at-risk youth across multiple grade levels-based evidence-based models and strategies. </li><li>Recruit, screen, and train adult and peer mentors according to district and legal standards. </li><li>Collaborate with school staff (transition coordinators, counselors, teachers, social workers) to identify eligible students and refer them to the program. </li><li>Match students with mentors based on compatibility, needs, and availability. </li><li>Conduct regular check-ins with mentors and mentees to monitor progress and provide support. </li><li>Develop and facilitate orientation sessions, training workshops, ongoing professional development, and background checks for mentors. </li><li>Maintain accurate and confidential records of all mentor-mentee relationships, including meeting logs and progress reports. </li><li>Plan and coordinate mentor-mentee events, recognition programs, and outreach activities to foster strong relationships and program visibility. </li><li>Evaluate program outcomes and effectiveness; prepare reports for school administrators, district leadership, and grant agencies as needed. </li><li>Ensure program compliance with district policies, FERPA regulations, and child safety standards. </li><li>Act as a liaison between schools, community organizations, and families to strengthen support systems for students. </li><li>Promote equity and cultural competency in mentoring relationships and program delivery. </li><li>Design mentor relationships with alternative school network. </li><li>Develop a Dayton Public Schools' College Promise network for alternative school students. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Education & Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related field (Master's Degree preferred). </li><li>Minimum of 2 years of experience working with at-risk youth or coordinating youth programs. </li><li>Experience in mentoring, education systems, or community outreach preferred. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Strong understanding of child development and challenges faced by at-risk youth. </li><li>Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and stakeholders. </li><li>Proficiency in data collection, reporting, and using digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Excel, student information systems). </li><li>Ability to manage multiple school sites and travel between them as needed. </li><li>CPR/First Aid certification and background check required. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Primarily school-based with travel between school sites within the district. </li><li>Working evenings and weekends for events on occasion. </li></ul>
