<p>Holliston Public Schools is seeking a dynamic leader to join our Professional Learning Community as the Director of Teaching and Learning. Holliston enjoys high community standards, a long tradition of innovation, involved and supportive parents, and, most importantly, a dedicated, skilled, and motivated professional staff.</p> <p>Holliston, MA, is a family-friendly MetroWest suburb known for its strong sense of community, excellent schools, and classic New England charm. With its historic buildings, abundant parks, local shops, and vibrant volunteer spirit, Holliston offers a welcoming small-town atmosphere.</p> <p>The town, located twenty-five miles outside of Boston, is committed to ensuring an environment that allows for diverse perspectives and backgrounds, welcoming individuals and families of every race, color, ancestry, national origin, religion, age, gender, marital/domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, and veteran status.</p> <p>Holliston promotes academic rigor while celebrating the arts and athletics. Students are provided multiple opportunities to participate in the rich educational services and extra-curricular activities within the schools that serve 2600 students in grades K-12. The district offers a K-5 French Immersion program and a PreK-4 Montessori program in addition to its Traditional program.</p> <p>The ideal candidate will have prior administrative experience as a building administrator, teacher, and teacher-leader; experience facilitating the group decision-making process; and a commitment to fostering continuous improvement through a culture of collaboration and shared leadership. A Massachusetts Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent license or Supervisor/Director license is required.</p> <p>Reports to: Superintendent of Schools</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's Degree or higher </li><li>Training, experience, and familiarity with the current research in curriculum development and instructional leadership. </li><li>Teaching and/or supervisory experience totaling at least ten (10) years. </li><li>Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable. </li></ul> <p>Job Goal:</p> <p>To assist the Superintendent and leadership team substantially and effectively in the task of providing leadership in achieving, maintaining, and coordinating the best possible educational programs and services for the Holliston Public Schools.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Performs the leadership role in the development and management of the curriculum frameworks of the Massachusetts Department of Education. </li><li>Develops and implements a comprehensive, system-wide professional development program for staff in collaboration with the leadership team. </li><li>Acquires and oversees competitive and entitlement grant resources to provide financial support to the entire educational system. </li><li>Plans and coordinates district-wide content curriculum reviews on a regular cycle. </li><li>Meets regularly with the curriculum team members. </li><li>Works closely with the administrative staff in recruiting, interviewing, screening, and recommending to the Superintendent candidates for curricular positions. </li><li>Supports administrators and others within the system who are in need of research and evaluation expertise and information. </li><li>Provides workshops, as necessary, to groups needing to acquire certain skills in order to carry out their own objectives. </li><li>Provides status reports to the Superintendent of Schools on current research and innovations in all curriculum areas. </li><li>Reviews literature in a wide range of subjects to identify and review curriculum material. Library and online research skills and familiarity with information resources are essential. </li><li>Assists with planning for in-service programs in staff development, including summer workshops, meetings with consultants, and professional growth conferences. </li><li>Assists with the orientation and mentorship program for first and second-year teachers. </li><li>Develops a feedback system from pupils, staff, and community to serve as a guide to planning related to teaching and learning </li><li>Designs, implements, and analyzes the results of a system-wide testing assessment program. </li><li>Assure that the results of assessments inform curriculum development and alignment. </li><li>Provides input for long-range personnel needs based on projected program needs. </li><li>Takes responsibility for student teaching arrangements and teaching intern programs. </li><li>Carries out procedures for evaluating teacher personnel, including substitute teachers. </li><li>Helps develop realistic expectations for students with staff, parents, and students related to teaching and learning. </li><li>Attends School Committee meetings as needed. </li><li>Oversees home school students to ensure policy compliance. </li><li>Acts as a resource to the professional staff on teacher licensure issues and Individual Professional Development Plans (IPDP). </li><li>Carries out such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent of Schools. </li></ul> <p>Work Year:12 Months</p> <p>Public School employees of Massachusetts are required to submit their fingerprints to a National Criminal Database check. The check will require you to pay a fee of $55 if you hold an Educator's License, or $35 if you are an unlicensed employee. In addition to the national background check, a satisfactory Massachusetts Criminal Record Check (CORI) is required.</p>
