<p>Overview:</p> <p>The Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) at MxV Rail is seeking a dynamic and motivated Instructor to serve as a subject matter expert for hazardous materials emergency response training, including rail, highway, intermodal, and flammable liquids transportation. The ideal candidate will assist in the analysis and decision-making processes for developing and delivering training courses. Our new team member can coordinate and deliver all SERTC curriculum while ensuring a positive student experience. This position reports to SERTC people leaders and assists and suggests modifications and development of training props and teaching aids as needed.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide classroom instruction, supervise field exercises, and support all training programs offered through the Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) in Pueblo, Colorado. </li><li>Provide logistical support for training activities by setting up and taking down training aids. </li><li>Promote safety and professional philosophy when working with internal and external customers and other employees. </li><li>Contribute positively to accomplishing the training team's overall objectives. Function as a team member. </li><li>Provide the SERTC leadership team with recommendations on training equipment, inventories, maintenance, and staffing needs. </li><li>As required, represent SERTC and MxV Rail on local, state, and national committees. </li><li>Participate in professional focus groups, boards, and advisory committees as assigned. </li><li>Collaborate with MxV Rail's Operations team to support safety initiatives and ensure safe classroom instruction and field exercises. </li><li>Create and maintain positive working relationships and support the implementation of company initiatives aimed at developing an engaged and productive workforce. </li><li>Ability to remain committed to compliance with all internal policies and legal regulations in every area of the organization's daily activity, including fostering the development of short and long-term plans, policies, and guidelines. </li><li>Aptitude for forging and maintaining fruitful relationships of trust with shareholders, partners, and external authorities. </li><li>Ensures that all duties and responsibilities are performed in a safe manner. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Open to learning and living the MxV Rail values (Momentum, Insight, Teamwork, Rigor, Purpose) in all facets of the organization's work.</p> </li><li> <p>Be proficient in hazardous materials emergency response and product transfers for all modes of surface transportation, and flammable liquid/gas firefighting.</p> </li><li> <p>Instructors not proficient with all training props and aides will undergo a cross-training program to acquire requisite proficiencies within one year of the hire date.</p> </li><li> <p>Function effectively under pressure and thrive in a fast-paced, high-performing environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in collaborating with high-performing teams in a spirit of collaboration, transparency, accountability, inclusion, and equity.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be willing to travel for remote deliveries, industry events, and stakeholder meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent.</p> </li><li> <p>A current and valid driver's license is required.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrable computer skills, with experience using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.</p> </li><li> <p>Certified in the following:</p> </li><li> <p>Hazardous Materials Technician Certificate. (Pro-Board / IFSAC) preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Fire Fighter One (1) or 1081 Certification</p> </li><li> <p>Fire Instructor 1 Certification</p> </li><li> <p>Flammable Liquid Fire Fighting experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Five years of working knowledge of hazmat emergency response - specifically in rail, highway, and intermodal transportation.</p> </li><li> <p>Five years of experience in public speaking, education, or in an instructional environment, especially in OSHA 1910.120 and NFPA hazmat specialties.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to function independently with company-focused goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate training expertise and offerings with vendors/contractors.</p> </li><li> <p>MxV Rail policy requires all prospective employees to complete a criminal background check (Disclosure for Consumer Reports Consent Form) and a pre-employment substance abuse screening (Applicant Consent for Drug Testing Form) as a condition of employment.</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Degree or relevant certificates in Emergency Services. </li><li>Ten years of working experience and knowledge in the field of HazMat emergency response, specifically in rail, highway, and intermodal transportation. </li><li>Ten years of hands-on hazmat emergency response experience. </li><li>Certified in the following: </li><li>Tank Car Specialist Certificate </li><li>Highway Emergency Response Specialist Certificate </li><li>Intermodal Specialist Certificate </li><li>Fire Fighter 2 Certificate </li><li>FEMA NIMS / ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 Certificates </li></ul> <p>Working Environment and Level of Physical Activity:</p> <p>The conditions herein represent those an employee must meet to perform this job's essential successful functions.
