<p>Under general supervision of the Dean of the Yancey Learning Center, provides customized training assistance in support of full-time production and direct customer service positions created in the Mitchell, Avery, and Yancey county areas, as well as provides training assistance and support to all existing and potential business in the area. The Coordinator of Industry Training and Human Resource Development (HRD) is responsible for the development and administration of Career Development/HRD classes in both the community and correctional facilities.</p> <p>Program Development:</p> <ul> <li>Assist companies, correctional facilities, and community organizations in identifying training needs. </li><li>Develop, implement and evaluate plans for the expansion of the HRD program in coordination with MCC administration. </li><li>Manage recruitment, selection and training process for new HRD and industry instructors as needed or required. </li><li>Oversee the evaluation and supervision of instructors on and off campus. </li><li>Facilitate the process of resolving instructor and/or student problems. </li><li>Provide class schedules compatible with company, community and instructors' schedules, that when appropriate, may be applicable to two or more businesses for potential "open enrollment" classes. </li><li>Attend training seminars to develop relevant knowledge and skills. This includes all regional and state meetings of the Customized Training and Human Resources Development Programs. </li></ul> <p>Record Keeping:</p> <ul> <li>Monitor approval of information and deadlines for submission of instructor time-sheets in accordance with Continuing Education and Business Office policy. </li><li>Write employment contracts and other official documents as directed by the MCC Administration, and secure needed signatures from appropriate parties. </li><li>Register and evaluate classes. </li><li>Complete necessary data entry for NCCCS and CTP. </li><li>Maintain the necessary documentation and forms as required by Mayland Community College, the North Carolina Community College System, and the North Carolina Department of Public Safety. </li><li>Maintain HRD information for program auditors, and run reports in accordance with institutional requirements. </li><li>Responsible for file maintenance and review to ensure accuracy of data submitted to the System Office. </li><li>Utilize Colleague to create and grade class sections and register students as required. </li><li>Visit a specified number of classes each semester to monitor accountability and credibility and complete required class visitation report. </li><li>Prepare class file packets for instructors as needed. </li><li>Create and maintain all required documentation as required by ACT for the Career Readiness Certification. </li></ul> <p>Community Involvement:</p> <ul> <li>Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with leaders of local business and industry. </li><li>Attend local government meetings to raise awareness of Mayland's involvement in the community and to stay informed on local projects. </li><li>Serve as the college liaison for industry. </li><li>Represent college programs in the community. </li><li>Be actively involved in area business and community organizations. </li></ul> <p>Institutional:</p> <ul> <li>Track and maintain Customized Training/NC Edge Projects and Career Development/HRD courses to ensure compliance with state regulations. </li><li>Prepare and monitor annual goals, budgets and Program Reviews for CTP and HRD programs. </li><li>Review educational budgets from correctional facilities and utilize this information to prepare Career Development budgets for classes held in correctional facilities. </li><li>Assist other areas of the college in connecting and working with local business and industry. </li><li>Complete other activities as requested by MCC Administration. </li></ul> <p>Marketing:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and distribute Customized Training/NC Edge and HRD informational materials (brochures, etc.) to businesses and organizations in the service area. </li><li>Speak to local non-profits, government entities, or other organizations to share information about Industry Training and Career Development programs. </li><li>Promote services offered by Mayland Community College at every opportunity. </li></ul> <p>Education: Associate's Degree</p> <p>Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in a managerial/supervisory role, or a combination of related education and experience.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Thorough knowledge of manufacturing processes; and business concepts </li><li>Considerable working knowledge of personal computers, the Microsoft Office Suite, and internet and e-mail services </li><li>Ability to deal tactfully and courteously with area industry representatives, members of MCC Board of Trustees, DPS officials,College staff, students, and with the general public </li><li>Considerable discretion in the handling of confidential information and sensitive materials </li><li>Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills </li><li>Effective written and oral communication skills </li><li>Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees </li></ul>
