In addition to hands-on duties, this role serves as a lead worker for crews performing groundskeeping, landscaping, and park maintenance tasks.</p> <p>MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma, GED, or equivalent </li><li>Two (2) years of related experience </li><li>Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Leads and participates in the maintenance of lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, trails, playgrounds, and open spaces within parks and public grounds </li><li>Assigns tasks and provides on-the-job guidance and informal training crew members </li><li>Operates and maintains a variety of equipment including, but not limited to skidsteers, dump trucks, tractors, riding mowers, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, utility vehicles, and personnel lifts </li><li>Maintains irrigation systems; adjust, repair, or report issues to appropriate personnel </li><li>Prepares and maintains athletic fields including stripping, lining, dragging, and leveling </li><li>Performs minor repairs to park fixtures, fencing, benches, grills, and other outdoor amenities </li><li>Cleans and maintains park facilities including but not limited to restrooms, shelters, concessions, and equipment buildings </li><li>Monitors parks for hazards or damage; report or address issues </li><li>Apply fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides as directed and in accordance with applicable regulations </li><li>Maintains records of daily work performed, materials used, and equipment serviced </li><li>Assists with snow and ice removal from trails, sidewalks, and public parks and streets </li><li>Supports special events and seasonal programming through setup and cleanup activities </li><li>Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety standards </li><li>Performs related work as assigned </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL LICENSE/CERTIFICATION</p> <p>All certifications and licenses must be maintained as a condition of employment.</p> <ul> <li>Valid driver's license </li><li>Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B within the first six (6) months of employment </li><li>Required to obtain an appropriate Pesticide Applicator license from the Kentucky Department of Agriculture within the first twelve (12) months of employment. </li></ul> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Positions are required to perform snow removal duties during weather emergencies. </li><li>Must be accessible for on-call duty and be able to work weekends and holidays as assigned and during emergencies. </li><li>All positions require drug testing and background check before employment and may require a postjob offer physical as stated in Ordinances 21-14(b), 22-13 and 23-16. </li></ul> <p>HOW TO APPLY</p> <p>Submit LFUCG electronic application through lexingtonky.gov/jobs and attach/upload applicable documents to verify your education, training, certification/license(s), or DD214 (for military preference with appropriate discharge) by filing deadline date.</p> <p>RESUMES CANNOT BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE APPLICATION, but are highly encouraged to be attached/uploaded to the application.</p> <p>Please note that the section titled "Application Questionnaire" has to be completed every time a new or revised application is submitted.
