<p>Job Description</p> <p>ECU Health</p> <p>About ECU Health Medical Center</p> <p>ECU Health Medical Center, one of four academic medical centers in North Carolina, is the 974-bed flagship hospital for ECU Health and serves as the primary teaching hospital for The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. ECU Health Medical Center has achieved Magnet designation twice and provides acute and intermediate care, rehabilitation and outpatient health services to a 29-county region that is home to more than 1.4 million people.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Laboratory Assistant processes outpatient test requests.</p> <p>As a Laboratory Assistant, you will:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform venous and capillary collection of blood specimens for analysis and process specimens for analysis and reference testing. With supervision, may perform waived and moderately complex testing. May perform chain-of-custody drug collections. Performs various other support services for the laboratory as assigned. Maintains required documentation to comply with accrediting agencies.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs duties consistent with written procedures and regulatory requirements.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports the department in achieving department goals for service, quality, regulatory compliance, financial performance, patient satisfaction, healthy work environment, and integration of intra and inter-departmental activities.</p> </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>High School, Equivalent (GED), or higher</p> </li><li> <p>Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation is recommended</p> </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>6 months experience in a hospital or reference laboratory setting, physician office, outpatient clinic, or other medical setting </li></ul> <p>Phlebotomy certification by ASCP or another nationally recognized certifying agency:</p> <p>National Healthcare Association (NHA) --Clinical Laboratory Phlebotomy Examination (CLPlb), American Society of Clinical Pathologists-- Phlebotomy Technician Examination [PBT(ASCP)], International Academy of Phlebotomy Sciences (IAPS), National Phlebotomy Association (NPA), American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT), National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE), National Phlebotomy Solutions (NPS), American Medical Technologists (AMT), or another national certification as approved by Laboratory Service Line leadership</p> <p>Other Information</p> <ul> <li>40 hours per week </li><li>Monday - Friday, primarily 11 am - 7:30 pm </li><li>Required to work other Shifts/Hours based on staffing needs and/or workload demands </li><li>Rotational weekend schedule for every 3rd weekend and rotational holidays </li><li>Career Level Availabilities / Growth Opportunities </li><li>Great Benefits </li></ul> <p>#LI-SB1</p> <p>General Statement</p> <p>It is the goal of ECU Health and its entities to employ the most qualified individual who best matches the requirements for the vacant position.</p> <p>Offers of employment are subject to successful completion of all pre-employment screenings, which may include an occupational health screening, criminal record check, education, reference, and licensure verification.</p> <p>We value diversity and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
