<p>Join the City of Reno and become part of an amazing team who strives every day to make our community a place we are all proud to call home.</p> <p>The ideal candidate in this position will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the operation of a large aquatic facility in collaboration with other professional Recreation staff. The duties will include the scheduling and supervision of part-time staff. The employee will share in the responsibility to oversee/contribute to the maintenance of the building, grounds, and equipment. The position will also conduct lifeguard and water safety training classes and oversee community aquatic programs.</p> <p>We currently have one vacancy in the Parks and Recreation Aquatics Division in which hiring will begin immediately following the close of this recruitment. This commitment is an integral part of our efforts to ensure that we have a diverse and representative workforce that serves the community of Reno.</p> <ul> <li>Oversee and coordinate aquatic facility operation and programs. </li><li>Assist in the development of aquatic policies, procedures, goals and objectives, </li><li>including safety policies. </li><li>Enforce policies, rules, regulations, and ordinances governing the conduct of patrons and staff. </li><li>Inspect facilities and equipment to ensure proper maintenance and safe conditions. </li><li>Supervise and perform facility maintenance and cleaning duties. </li><li>Instruct and oversee swimming, diving, and water safety classes. </li><li>Conduct a variety of aquatic trainings. </li><li>Provide lead supervision responsibilities, prioritize assignments, create work schedules and verify hours worked for assigned staff. </li><li>Responsible for all customer service activities. </li><li>Research and compile information on programs and facilities. </li><li>Create documents for program and facility using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other Department software. </li><li>Compile and maintain registration and payment records. </li><li>Compile and maintain attendance and patron usage records. </li><li>Compile and maintain revenue and expense reports. </li><li>Answer telephone, greet customers and refer to appropriate staff. </li><li>Maintain files and an orderly office, front desk and staff areas. </li><li>Reconcile cash reports and prepare bank deposits for programs and facility. </li><li>Perform related duties as required. </li></ul> <p>The following minimum qualifications are required to be met at the time of application.</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent. </li></ul> <p>Work Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Two years of paid recreation experience. </li><li>One year of college level coursework (30 semester/45 quarter hours) in business administration, public administration, public health, recreation management, kinesiology or other closely related field may be substituted for one year of the work experience requirement. </li></ul> <p>License: </p> <ul> <li>Valid driver's license or the ability to independently get to and from multiple work locations as required </li></ul> <p>Certifications required within six months of hire date: </p> <ul> <li>Lifeguard Training </li><li>First Aid & CPR Certifications </li><li>Certified Pool Operator, </li></ul> <p>Bilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply.</p> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Please submit your completed application and all additional information/documentation requested online at www.reno.gov/jobs by March 22, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. PT. For each full year of continuous service completed, 0.2 points will be added up to a maximum of ten (10) years... 2 points will be the maximum.</p> <p>Appointment and Certification:</p> <p>Appointments to positions in the City's Civil Service system are made on the basis of examination. Scores resulting from a competitive examination are used in determining a person's rank on an eligible register. The department may hire any of the persons referred.
