Staffed by our talented team of leading professionals, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides a wide array of services throughout the region, caring for patients from birth through the end of life.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>Provides basic clinical and clerical support in the delivery of patient care within the Medical Assistant scope of education. The Medical Assistant experiences continued training of all aspects of the Medical Assistant role.</p> <p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provides direct patient care under direction of provider, including but not limited to: vitals, allergy & medication reconciliation, screenings, patient history, health maintenance, advance directives, virtual health, and language iTi.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides indirect patient care related to the Medical Assistant scope of education, including but not limited to: scheduling, work queues/worklists, check in/check out, referrals, in-basket, scanning, chart prep, non-clinical patient result callbacks, prior authorizations, transportation facilitation.</p> </li><li> <p>Conducts point of care testing including quality control & documentation including but not limited to: EKG, A1C, urinalysis, hemoglobin, urine tox, INR, and HcG.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs administrative duties and covers front desk based on business needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Floats to other offices based on business needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other related duties as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Diploma from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR an active CT CNA, EMT, Paramedic or Medic Certification OR relative experience as outlined below</p> </li><li> <p>In lieu of education requirement, at least one year of experience in direct patient care (acute or ambulatory space) may be considered</p> </li><li> <p>Relevant experience or MA externship in a busy medical office is preferred</p> </li><li> <p>EPIC EMR experience is preferred</p> </li><li> <p>Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 3 Months (90 days) of hire date or job transfer date</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to read and understand oral and written instructions, and effectively communicate information in English</p> </li></ul> <p>As a Hartford HealthCare entity, The Hospital of Central Connecticut provides eligible employees with an extensive benefits package consisting of:</p> <ul> <li>Medical and dental benefits </li><li>401(k) plan with employer match </li><li>Generous paid time off with accrual starting on the date of hire, including seven paid holidays </li><li>Additional voluntary benefits as well as employee discount programs </li></ul> <p>With locations around the state, Hartford HealthCare offers exciting opportunities for career development and growth.
