This is not a remote position.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>( Denotes Essential Functions)</p> <ul> <li>Performs, coordinates, and ensures the proper crediting of deposits to appropriate accounts and makes necessary adjustments as required. </li><li>Performs accounts receivable collection duties and prepares management reports as directed; monitors timely payment of invoices/vouchers, resolves delinquent payments and unidentified payments. </li><li>Prepares and maintains internal fiscal reports for monitoring and analysis of accounts receivable; produces monthly cash status reports by funding agencies and sub-fund groups; isolates and investigates large cash deficits and determines billing status. </li><li>Assists with special projects which may include accounts receivable management reports, rotational duties, responding to auditors, fiscal year-end processes, documentation of department procedures, and other. </li><li>Follows up on accounts receivable for sponsor-specific awards to ensure collection of payment. Ensures that deans/directors, PIs, FAS, and the ORS Financial Services Assistant Manager and Accounting Manager are notified of potential issues in a timely and concise manner. </li><li>Generates and monitors various internal reports, and coordinates appropriate notifications to and actions from responsible parties to facilitate close-out of awards. Includes, but not limited to, awards overdue for close-out, transaction errors due to incorrect usage of cost share sub-account codes, pending transactions on closed accounts, and uncashed payment checks. </li><li>Assists to review fixed price residual balance transfer requests. </li><li>Exercises professional and independent judgment in researching, analyzing, evaluating, and resolving complex extramural financial services issues. </li><li>Briefs ORS Financial Services Assistant Manager and Accounting Manager on significant issues in a concise and timely manner. Presents alternatives considered and recommends appropriate course of action. </li><li>Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with ORS and OVPRI personnel, sponsors, Principal Investigators, Fiscal Administrators, and others to effectively and efficiently administer research accounting. </li><li>Trains/cross-trains back-up and other staff. Assists in developing training materials and programs for new staff. Serves as back up to assigned colleague(s). </li><li>Utilizes various computer systems to obtain and analyze information to prepare various financial and informational reports as required by the Federal and other funding agencies. </li><li>Keeps abreast of current policies, procedures, regulations, directives and statutory requirements of various federal sponsoring agencies to insure compliance with federally imposed cash management requirements. </li><li>Demonstrates initiative by studying and recommending actionable improvements to existing policies and practices in a positive and professional manner. </li><li>Other duties as assigned </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Education and Professional Work Experience</p> <ul> <li>Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Administration or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for financial accounting ; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area offinancial accountingas demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology. </li><li>Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated withextramural funding. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area ofextramural funding. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members, and individuals. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software, andMicrosoft Office and Google Workspace applications, including but not limited to word processing and spreadsheet programs. </li></ul> <p>Supplemental Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Proficiency in use of personal computers, including office productivity software such as Knowledge of cash management principles. </li><li>Ability to analyze financial transaction recording systems, to discern internal control and related problems. </li><li>Ability to work on multiple projects and utilize various computer systems to complete tasks in an efficient manner. </li><li>Ability to learn and work with various financial and/or information systems. </li><li>Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to effectively and productively work with internal and external stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Desirable Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of UH or governmental accounting policies, procedures and practices. </li><li>Working knowledge of Jaspersoft Reporting and Kuali Financial System relevant to accounting functions. </li><li>Strong ability to utilize Excel to transform raw data to identify and analyze information. </li></ul> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Click on the "Apply" button on the top right corner of the screen to complete an application and upload required documents.
