<p>This position is located at the John D. Dingell VA Medical Center in Detroit, MI. The duties include managing critically ill patients in the ICU, responding to emergencies in the hospital, completing pulmonary consults & procedures as necessary, and completing medical ICU consults. Supervision of fellows and advanced physician practitioner is required.</p> <p>This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. All administrative work should be completed in a timely fashion. </li><li>Procedural skills include all ICU procedures such as arterial puncture, arterial line placement, EKG interpretation, abdominal paracentesis, venti puncture, nasogastric tube insertion, PFT interpretation, intubation, moderate sedation, lumbar puncture, thoracentesis, central venous line placement, general bronchoscopy, trans bronchial biopsy/aspiration, chest tube insertion and fluoroscopy equipment usage. </li><li>Provide treatment of pulmonary diseases and disorders in an outpatient setting if needed </li><li>The staff Pulmonary/ Critical Care Specialist exercises corporate citizenship by serving as leader and/or active member on Medical Center committees as requested. </li><li>The staff Pulmonary/ Critical Care Specialist provides expanded access to services via off normal tour or on call periods by sharing after hour call responsibilities with section physicians in rotation. </li><li>Help cross-cover other part-time physicians if necessary </li><li>Participates in jeopardy backup coverage schedule for the ICU </li></ul> <p>Work schedule: To include; After Hour Tour of Duty/Weekends and Holidays as assigned.</p> <p>Compressed/Flexible Schedule: Not Authorized</p> <p>Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement Title: Physician - Pulmonary/Critical Care</p> <p>Relocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not Authorized</p>
