Must also have or be willing to get current CPR/AED certification. Must have high school diploma or equivalent.</p> <p>Applicants must be fully credentialed professionals or substitutes or hold a valid WVDE coaching certification before participating in ANY coaching duties. Call 304-799-4505 for information on how to start the process or renew your existing certification.</p> <p>Coaching duties must not interfere with other contracted duties held by the successful applicant, and the successful applicant must be available for practice and game times and dates as determined by the principal. Recommendations for employment will ONLY be submitted to the Superintendent and Board of Education upon proof of required/valid certification AND proof of CPR/AED training.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY: A High School Coach is responsible for leading and managing student athletes in a high school setting. They are responsible for creating and implementing effective training and conditioning programs, as well as developing strategies and game plans to help the team succeed. High school coaches play a vital role in the physical, emotional and mental development of student athletes by teaching them valuable life skills, such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. They also act as mentors and provide guidance and support to student athletes both on and off the field.</p> <p>DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Organize and carry out an athletic program that will promote team and school pride </li><li>Accept the responsibility for the welfare of the students under his/her supervision </li><li>Attempt to integrate the athletic program with the total school program </li><li>Promote positive public relations in regard to the school's athletic program </li><li>Abide by the league, county, state, and federal rules and regulations </li><li>Accept responsibility for the behavior and welfare of his/her team before and after practice or a contest </li><li>Work in conjunction and coordination with athletic programs at other school levels </li><li>Accept responsibility for the retention and care of equipment </li><li>Provide leadership and support in his/her area of responsibility </li><li>Maintain professional work habits </li><li>Accept the responsibility of and help maintain professional behavior of all assistant coaches </li><li>Maintain and upgrade his/her professional skills </li><li>Perform all other duties as assigned by principal or athletic director/head coach. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff members.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environmental characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
