<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Prosecutes violations of the Ethics Reform Act pursuant to the Administrative Procedures Act, to include coordinating complaint investigations and preparing settlement documents in cases that resolve prior to a hearing. </li><li>Interprets Commission policies and establishes practices and procedures for legal activities of the Commission. </li><li>Conducts training sessions across a variety of platforms on the roles and responsibilities of public servants, to include government attorneys, under the Ethics Reform Act. </li><li>Represents the Commission before the Administrative Law Court, Circuit Court, Court of Appeals and/or Supreme Court. </li><li>Prepares and presents Commission opinions to ensure proper interpretation and application of the Ethics Reform Act. </li><li>Furnishes legal advice to the Executive Director, Commission, and staff regarding the Ethics Reform Act when necessary. </li><li>Performs other related duties as requested by the Executive Director or General Counsel. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Candidate must possess a juris doctor degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing with the South Carolina Bar. </li><li>Candidate must have knowledge of South Carolina law and procedure. </li><li>Candidate must have the ability to interpret and apply laws, court decisions, and administrative guidance. </li><li>Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. </li><li>Candidate must be able to work with independence and discretion, maintaining strict confidentiality at all times. </li><li>Candidate must possess the ability to independently manage assigned cases and prioritize workload. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Incomplete applications will not be accepted.</p> <p>Please contact Ami Franklin at ami@ethics.sc.gov with any questions.</p>
