<p>Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Supervisor: Eric Gardner</p> <p>EHS Specialist - Field Operations</p> <p>Job Purpose</p> <p>The EHS Specialist - Field Operations supports and advances PTTG's Safety-First Culture, ensuring safety is not only a compliance expectation but a core operational value. This position partners closely with project managers, superintendents, Foreman, welders, tank/tower erection teams, and subcontractors to ensure every jobsite is safe, compliant, and operationally efficient. The EHS Specialist provides hands-on field safety leadership, conducts proactive risk assessments, and implements programs that reduce incidents and long-term occupational health risks.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <p>Field Safety Leadership & Engagement</p> <ul> <li>Conduct routine site safety inspections. </li><li>Engage field crews and sub-contractors to reinforce safe work practices and proper PPE use. </li></ul> <p>Risk Assessment & Hazard Control</p> <ul> <li>Participate in Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), lift plan reviews, confined space and hot work assessments. </li><li>Monitor environmental conditions and implement appropriate protective actions. </li><li>Identify unsafe conditions or behaviors and intervene immediately to prevent incidents. </li></ul> <p>Compliance & Documentation</p> <ul> <li>Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, state, customer, and PTTG policies and procedures. </li><li>Maintain accurate documentation, including inspections, permits, corrective actions, and training records. </li><li>Stay current on regulatory and industry changes affecting tank and tower construction. </li></ul> <p>Training & Education</p> <ul> <li>Deliver safety training sessions on critical field topics and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Coach employees on proper equipment use, hazard recognition, and preventive measures. </li><li>Support annual refresher training and new-hire onboarding initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Incident Response & Investigation</p> <ul> <li>Respond to onsite injuries, near misses, property damage, or environmental events. </li><li>Secure the scene, obtain statements, and coordinate care as needed. </li><li>Conduct root-cause investigations and recommend corrective and preventive actions. </li></ul> <p>Communication & Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Communicate safety trends, concerns, and recommendations to supervisors and leadership. </li><li>Prepare clear written reports, summaries, and safety updates. </li><li>Represent EHS in internal planning meetings and customer interactions. </li></ul> <p>Travel Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Travel nationwide to PTTG job sites to support field operations and safety oversight. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications & Competencies</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum 2 years of experience in construction, industrial safety, or related field. </li><li>OSHA 30-Hour Construction. </li><li>Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification. </li><li>Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and relevant state regulations. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn company safety software. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Associate or bachelor's degree in safety, Construction Management, or a related field. </li><li>Professional certifications such as CHST, STS, or CSHO. </li><li>Experience in steel erection, welding operations, tank/tower construction, or heavy industrial environments. </li></ul> <p>Core Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Strong communication and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Ability to influence and coach employees at all levels. </li><li>Sound judgment, hazard analysis, and problem-solving abilities. </li><li>Excellent organization, documentation, and time management skills. </li><li>Demonstrated commitment to integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <p>This role requires the employee to frequently stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and communicate effectively. Occasionally, the employee will be required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must wear the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and may need to handle heavy equipment. Specific vision abilities essential for the job include close, distance, and peripheral vision, along with depth perception and focus adjustment. The employee must be able to climb and work at heights, and they are required to maintain an active driver's license in good standing.</p> <p>Work Hours & Classification</p> <p>FLSA Classification: Exempt</p> <p>Typical Work Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., with additional hours and travel as required by field operations. Travel expectation 80%</p>
