The Resident Substitute Teacher will be placed into positions each morning that were not filled with daily substitutes. The selection of substitutes shall be made on the basis of academic training, certification status, past teaching experience, a structured interview, and recommendations.</p> <ul> <li>Group A: Degree-holding teachers who are, have been, or could have been fully certificated in Maryland; degree-holding teachers who can be, under special state-approved reciprocity arrangements, fully certified in Maryland; and retired teachers from this county school system. </li><li>Group B: Individuals who hold a Bachelor's degree or above and do not have full certification in Maryland. </li><li>Group C: Individuals having less than a Bachelor's degree. </li></ul> <p>Terms</p> <ul> <li>A level: daily rate, $160 per day + $20 = $180 per day </li><li>B level: daily rate, $133 per day + $20 = $153 per day </li><li>C level: daily rate, $120 per day + $20 = $140 per day </li></ul> <p>Washington County Public Schools provides employees with a comprehensive benefits package designed to support their well-being. For complete details, please visit the Employee Benefits Summary.</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Ability to follow oral or written instructions. </li><li>Ability to communicate clearly. </li><li>Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. </li><li>Available to work Monday through Friday. </li><li>Willing to accept placements in all grades and subjects. </li></ul> <p>Role Responsibilities</p> <p>The resident substitute teacher shall:</p> <ul> <li>Make every effort to preserve the regular routine of the class, follow the plans designed by the classroom teacher and perform such duties as required. </li><li>Attend special orientation sessions provided by the school system and such meetings as requested by the school administration. </li><li>Complete reports that are requested or required by the school. </li><li>Notify the Human Resources Office immediately if he or she is no longer available for substitute work. </li><li>Demonstrate a courteous and professional demeanor to all stakeholders of Washington County Public Schools. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>An applicant shall not be considered for a substitute teaching assignment until the following documents have been received:</p> <ul> <li>Verification of education (copy of diploma, transcripts, or teaching certificate if applicable) </li><li>3 completed recommendation forms </li></ul> <p>Physical/Mental Requirements</p> <p>These expectations outline the physical and mental demands required to successfully perform the essential job functions.
