We are looking for talented and highly-motivated individuals who demonstrate a natural desire to support the meaningful work of community oncologists and the patients we serve.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>The Employee-Occupational Health Nurse endeavors to promote health and safety to all employees by facilitating Employee and Occupational Health Programs which include but are not limited to disease detection, prevention, and treatment; following up on employee illnesses and injuries; conducting employee health screenings; and promoting a safe and healthy work environment.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Conducts new employee orientation /training related to Occupational/Employee Health </li><li>Conducts new hire screenings and ongoing required employee occupational health screenings to include but not limited to health history, immunizations status, occupational health risk stratification, respiratory protection program medical evaluation, TB screening in collaboration with Human Resources and Executive Director, Nursing Services. </li><li>Refers employees with identifiable limitations and/or health risks to appropriate resources. Works collaboratively with Human Resources on possible ADA accommodation requests, light duty requests, etc. </li><li>Conducts at least twice yearly on-site occupational health and safety rounds at every Tennessee Oncology location </li><li>Acts as a subject matter expert resource related to employee health and occupational health safety regulations, standards, policies, and procedures </li><li>Offers health promotion (wellness) counseling and educational materials. </li><li>Provides education on and monitors compliance with hand hygiene and isolation practices /policies. </li><li>Develops, implements, and provides education on workplace hazards, hazardous drug /waste exposure control plan and equipment. Conducts /coordinates environmental surveillance testing as requested </li><li>Manages Department of Transportation required training for regulated/hazardous waste </li><li>Develops, implements, and provides education on infection prevention and control plans and policies and procedures. </li><li>Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to potential or actual communicable diseases, i.e. needle sticks, airborne pathogens, insect/pest infestations. </li><li>Plans, implements, and conducts annual Influenza Prevention/Vaccine Program. </li><li>Plans and implements other vaccine programs as directed by APIC, OSHA, CDC and other regulatory agencies, to include but not limited to Hepatitis, Tetanus and or MMR. Administers vaccines as needed. Reports to Teniss (TN.gov) as appropriate </li><li>Plans, implements, and conducts annual respiratory and blood borne pathogen training to employees in required departments. </li><li>Conducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the organization TB control plan and/or at least annually. Conducts follow-up for lab / skin testing or reviews results of chest x-rays for all employee TB exposures. </li><li>Manages employee Respiratory Protection Program including respirator medical screening and fit testing. Monitors compliance with PPE standards/equipment maintenance </li><li>Performs ergonomic assessments and makes recommendations based on findings </li><li>Works collaboratively with Education services to develop and roll out annual Employee-Occupational Health and safety training modules </li><li>Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues. Submits required state, federal, organization reports annually or on designated frequency </li><li>Maintains employee health records. Serves as a site administrator for electronic employee -occupational health software/platforms such as Workday </li><li>Maintains Safety Data Sheet website/platform </li><li>Maintains summaries and written reports required for employee-occupational health, illness/injury reporting. </li><li>Participates as an active member of the Safety Committee and other committees at the request of executive level management. Facilitates meeting as requested. Presents relevant data and creates and implements programs, education, quality improvement/assurance plans as needed </li><li>Assists with the compilation and computer input of established data, benchmarks, metrics </li><li>Provides concise data and tracking of all exposures. </li><li>Provides initial assessment of employee injuries and assures the proper referrals are made with Workers Compensation physician practice in collaboration with EDON/Safety Manager/Compliance Officer. </li><li>Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein. </li><li>Strives to manage situations in a reduced risk manner. </li><li>Functions within the RN scope of practice. Demonstrates awareness of an adherence to legal requirements pertinent to employee health and safety. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Proven ability to multi-task in fast paced environment </li><li>Ability to work independently </li><li>Knowledge of organization policies, procedures systems. </li><li>Knowledge of OSHA, NIOSH, TOSHA, CDC and other employee-occupational health standards and requirements </li><li>Skill in computer applications. </li><li>Skill in verbal and written communication. </li><li>Skill in gathering and reporting information. </li><li>Skill in venipuncture, injection administration, fit testing, physical assessments </li><li>Skill in customer service, </li><li>Ability to work effectively with staff, and other internal and external sponsor and agencies. </li></ul> <p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:</p> <ul> <li>Graduate of an accredited Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Nursing Program or 5 years of recent relevant experience in lieu of BSN/MSN </li><li>Current valid TN state or compact state RN license </li><li>Three years of nursing experience is required, occupational/employee health nurse experience strongly preferred </li><li>Occupational Health/Employee Health Nurse Certification (COHN or COHN-S) preferred at time of hire or candidates will be required to obtain and maintain within 2 years of hire </li><li>Tennessee Oncology approved BLS certification required within 3 months of hire </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>OSHA Risk Category 1 </li><li>Expected Travel is approximately 25-30% of worked hours. Must be able to regularly travel to all Tennessee Oncology locations. </li><li>Limited work from home (<20% of worked hours).
