<p>Overview</p> <p>The Princeton University Art Museum seeks a part-time, temporary?Museum Educator?to lead group tours and provide interactive experiences?primarily?for K-12?groups,?but may occasionally lead experiences for?college and adult audiences. The Museum Educator will?work with Museum Education staff to learn about the Museum's collections and how to?facilitate?the Museum's K-12 gallery engagement tour plans, which are grounded in close looking, critical thinking, and inquiry-based?methodologies. Additionally, the Museum Educator may assist with family and community programs as needed.</p> <p>About the Museum:</p> <p>With a collecting history that extends back to 1755, the Princeton University Art Museum is one of the leading university art museums in the country, featuring collections that have grown to include more than 117,000 works of art ranging from ancient to contemporary art and spanning the globe. Committed to advancing Princeton's teaching and research missions, the Art Museum also serves as a gateway to the University for visitors from around the world.</p> <p>The bold and welcoming new Princeton University Art Museum is open daily at the heart of Princeton's campus. Admission is free to all. The Museum also operates Art@Bainbridge, a gallery project at 158 Nassau Street; two Museum Stores; and Mosaic restaurant.</p> <p>To learn more about the Princeton University Art Museum, visit artmuseum.princeton.edu.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lead?tours for groups?of the Museum's collections and special?exhibitions?galleries.??(2-12?hours per week Tuesday - Friday between 10:00-1:30) </li><li>Collaborate?and coordinate?with other Museum Educators and?Docents?to?customize tour plans to meet the needs of each group and to ensure that groups?move through the galleries in a safe and organized way. (1 hour per week) </li><li>Spend time learning about the Museum's collections as well as tour curriculum and pedagogies.??(8 hours of?initial?training, followed by 2-4 hours weekly review and preparation) </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Essentials Requirements</p> <p>The work location for this position is at Princeton University, in-person and on campus.</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in art education, Art History, Museum Studies, or?a related?field. </li><li>1-3 years of experience in museum education?or classroom teaching.?Experience?in inquiry-based teaching methodologies?is a plus. </li><li>Experience working with audiences of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements</p> <p>The ability to give a tour in other languages in addition to English.</p> <p>Be advised that you will be contacted only if there is further interest in your application.
