<p>Speech Language Specialist JobID: 1387</p> <p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/1/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District Wide</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>09/01/2025</p> <p>Closing Date:</p> <p>07/15/2025</p> <p>Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>Speech Language Specialist</p> <p>The Secaucus Board of Education invites qualified and interested individuals to apply for the position of Speech Language Specialist.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree or higher in speech-language pathology, or its equivalent, from a regionally accredited college or university. </li><li>New Jersey Department of Education Standard Speech Language Specialist Certificate. </li><li>Strong background and knowledge of NJAC 6A:14 preferred. </li></ul> <p>BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <ul> <li>Speech Language Specialist assesses children in the district who have suspected language, articulation, fluency and/or voice disorders. </li><li>Speech Language Specialist provides direct and indirect services to reduce or eliminate speech and language difficulties that adversely affect a student's academic performance and are determined to be outside the range of acceptable variations. </li><li>Speech Language Specialist are case managers and provide therapeutic interventions for all students classified as eligible for speech and language services. </li><li>Speech Language Specialist acts as mandates members of the child study team (CST) for all children with the following disabling conditions: preschool child with disability, autistic, auditory impaired, and communication impaired. </li><li>To evaluate children identified through a standardized assessment process and/or functional process in order to determine speech and/or language functioning and impact on educational performance. </li><li>To generate a written professional report of the evaluation to include state and district mandated components. </li><li>To participate in CST identification meetings involving suspected language disability students. </li><li>To participate with CST to determine needs for speech and language impaired children and to develop appropriate goals and objectives to service students. </li><li>To prepare Individual Education Programs (IEP), reevaluations and annual reviews for students eligible for speech language services. </li><li>To follow federal laws, state mandates, and district policies and procedures. </li><li>To schedule students and provide speech language services as mandated by the IEP. </li><li>To prepare and maintain all case records for eligible speech language services students. </li><li>To prepare and maintain ongoing progress records for each student receiving speech language services. </li><li>To utilize state and district eligibility guidelines in determining eligibility for speech language services. </li><li>To complete state and district reports as required. </li><li>To consult with school nurse regarding hearing evaluation. </li><li>To consult with administrators, teachers, parents, and staff. </li></ul> <p>Reports to: Director of Special Services and Principal</p> <p>SALARY AND EMPLOYMENT</p> <p>Salary Range: Current starting salary range $62,600 - $70,110 as per the 2023-2026 SEA Contract</p> <p>Employment Period: 2025-2026 School Year</p> <p>HOW TO APPLY</p> <p>The Secaucus Board of Education only accepts electronic applications.</p> <p>Please apply online at www.sboe.org.</p> <p>OPENING DATE: July 1, 2025</p> <p>CLOSING DATE: July 15, 2025</p> <p>THE SECAUCUS BOARD OF EDUCATION IS AN</p> <p>EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER</p> <p>Board approved</p>
