We have been certified B Corp and Climate Neutral since 2021.</p> <p>JOB PURPOSE</p> <p>This role is part of DEPT's Design & Technology / Experience & Engineering teams across the Benelux and Nordics regions. We combine data, technology and creative design to solve complex business problems, deliver high-quality digital platforms, and create meaningful customer experiences for ambitious local and international brands.</p> <p>As a Technical Architect / Lead Engineer you bridge hands-on engineering with architectural thinking. You are someone who has built and delivered complex digital solutions yourself and is now stepping into shaping broader system design, guiding teams, and influencing client decisions.</p> <p>You will operate at the intersection of delivery and architecture-remaining close to the code and engineering reality, while growing into defining end-to-end solutions and long-term architecture directions.</p> <p>WHAT YOU'LL DO:</p> <ul> <li>Translate business requirements into pragmatic, implementable solution designs-grounded in real engineering experience. </li><li>Take ownership of solution design for (parts of) platforms, ensuring feasibility, scalability, and maintainability. </li><li>Stay close to delivery: collaborate directly with engineers, review implementations, and make architecture decisions that work in practice-not just on paper. </li><li>Contribute to defining future-ready architectures using DEPT principles: cloud-first, best-of-breed, proven technology, and quality-driven development. </li><li>Support senior architects in shaping broader solution landscapes and grow into owning full solution architectures over time. </li><li>Guide development teams with clear technical direction, helping them make better design and implementation decisions. </li><li>Participate in client conversations and workshops, translating technical complexity into clear, structured explanations. </li><li>Help identify improvements in architecture maturity (commerce, content, data, integration) and contribute to pragmatic roadmaps. </li><li>Apply architectural practices such as ADRs and C4 modelling to document decisions and create alignment across teams. </li><li>Contribute to technical solutioning in pre-sales and proposals, with a focus on realistic and implementable approaches. </li></ul> <p>WHAT YOU BRING:</p> <ul> <li>Strong background as a Senior / Lead Engineer or Technical Architect, with a clear ambition to grow into a Solution Architect role. </li><li>Hands-on experience building and delivering digital platforms (e-commerce, DXP, or API-driven systems). </li><li>Ability to balance hands-on engineering depth with increasing architectural responsibility. </li><li>Solid understanding of modern architectures across commerce, content, integration, and data. </li><li>Experience or interest in platforms such as Shopify, Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce, Optimizely or other industry leaders. </li><li>Comfortable working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) in real delivery contexts. </li><li>Familiarity with architectural practices such as ADRs and C4 modelling, and willingness to apply them consistently. </li><li>Strong problem-solving mindset: you prefer practical, working solutions over theoretical perfection. </li><li>Good communication skills, with the ability to explain technical decisions clearly to both engineers and clients. </li><li>Curiosity and openness to using AI as an assistant in your daily work (analysis, design, documentation), and interest in exploring how AI can improve solutions for clients. </li><li>Experience working in project-based environments, ideally in an agency, consultancy, or product environment. </li><li>Fluency in English; additional local languages within the Benelux or Nordics (BENO) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>WE OFFER</p> <ul> <li>Specific benefits vary based on location </li><li>A flexible, hybrid working policy (2-3 days from the office, depending on location) </li><li>DEPT/YOU Learning Menu and DEPT/YOU Special Programs.
